We stayed here in February so not the warmest time of year and off peak. But Kate was an excellent host and was very honest about the cottage and went out of her way to make sure it was clean, tidy, warmed up and very welcoming. The house it's self was in a great setting with everything you'd need on a weekend away (or longer!)and the comfy sofa in the front room sits facing the front of the amazing view out to sea. There's a lovely double wood stove to make a warm fire in the evening and am pizza oven out the back which would have been perfect for the summer. We were more than happy with this cottage in an idyllic setting with the best pub in Sligo less than one minute walk away. Her DVD collection was perfect for our weekend away. There are local conveniences not too far away and Strandhill and Sligo are also worth a visit. Already have recommended and would love to come back ourselves.
It was just awesome! Great house, very nice location with everything you need for a wonderful holiday.
Kate is an excellent and very helpful host and always responded quickly to any questions. Thoroughly recommended!
We really loved this beach cottage. It is spacious (sleeps 7 in bedrooms, no use of bed-couches), simple but cosy, has a terrace at the back of the house that warms up nicely when the sun is out and an amazing view. We loved the quiet region and extremely kind Irish people that you meet, but one should realize that this cottage is situated 30km from bakery and supermarket. A great place to stay with family or friends, to catch up with each other and catch great waves! The house was nice and clean, pizza oven worked (mainly because of the very good recipe and manual to work the oven) and the beds sleep warm and very comfortably! We'd love to come back to this cottage, at any time of the year.
What a cosy cottage!
Such great views: from the living room-window, you can see the ocean&watch the waves...
It's the perfect place to relax, has comfy beds, a well equiped kitchen, and even a pizza oven.
And such a lovely host, who answeared all our questions and gave us good tipps to explore the surroundings- thank you Kate!
We really felt at home.
What a location! Stunning views from almost all the rooms and a stone's throw from the beach so you can swim easily and run back for the hot shower? Beach Bar has great Guinness and late-night music and is only 3 minutes walk. If you get all your groceries before you arrive at the house, you never have to leave. And there's even a surf school next door.
House is lovely, good beds, pillows and sheets and lovely open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, great for entertaining. Nice selection of books and boardgames provided and the host's welcome and directions and things to do list is perfect. We will be back!
Just back from a fantastic holiday... Firstly the view is difficult to even describe, I would say it's possibly one of the best from any holiday home in Ireland. I watched a few sun rises (thanks to my toddlers early rising) and they were truly spectacular.
The beach was great for an inquisitive toddler and good for walks too. I would really recommend the nearby cliff walk, as again the scenery was beautiful (Kate had mentioned this walk in the house folder which was so useful, packed full of things to do).
Kate was so helpful in both the information we received prior to our visit and also getting in touch during our stay to ensure everything was all right, she's a really great host.
The cottage was really well equipped, lots of games, books, dvd's, a great wood fired stove, not forgetting to mention the pizza oven which we cooked in on a couple of occasions (and we may now have to build one at home too!) It makes truly delicious pizzas and the whole experience of using the outdoor oven really made the holiday for us.
The Beach Bar, literally a stroll away was a great assist to the property, it serves delicious Guinness (my husband, a Guinness drinker, tells me they were some of the best pints of Guinness he's ever enjoyed!)
We will definitely be back, maybe even making it an annual event, the cottage is perfect for a family holiday and for exploring Sligo.
This was a phenomenal property from a phenomenal host. The house is just as described - a simple, comfortable home in an outstanding location. You can't beat the view out the front windows, and our kids had a wonderful time running straight down to the beach. The wood stove was much appreciated as it gets chilly in Ireland even in August, and there were lots of great little amenities (DVDs, games, books, and the famous pizza oven).
We parked at the local pub as we didn't think our car could cope with the private track, but this worked fine and we enjoyed a drink or two at the pub itself. There is a campsite between the pub and the house but this was pretty quiet. Important to stock up on food and bottled water before you arrive, as there aren't any shops in the immediate area (luckily Kate had kindly sent us directions to the two closest).
Kate, the owner, could not have been more helpful, and double checked all the details with us up to and during our stay, which was so reassuring. She is building up a really useful information book for the house and the surrounding areas, which we made good use of. The house is in easy reach of Sligo town, but there is plenty to see of interest both nearby and further afield.
A shining example of an AirBnB success - we just wish we had booked more time there!
Thanks a lot Kate and Hope to see you one day. Valérie
We had a great weekend with a bunch of friends in this beautiful cottage. The view out the living room window from the couch is spectacular. Instantly relaxing home from once you enter the door. The kitchen was well equipped and Kate was kind enough to leave some very tasty Irish soda bread, milk and butter for us. We all loved the beach bar thatched pub which is literally a 2 minute walk away (far enough not to be noisy in any way). Great reasonably priced food (especially the seafood chowder). They also do live music on Saturday nights, but, we unfortunately missed it.
The location was perfect for us as we had to go to a wedding in Markree Castle and then surfing in Strandhill (30 min drive). There is a surf school on the beach, but, I believe the big waves are the other side of the headland. The sea in front of the house if very calm as it is somewhat sheltered which makes it great for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding.
Our only regret was not using the pizza oven in the back, even though there a very very thorough guide in how to use it : (
What a wonderful place! This beach front cottage was clean, cute and very cozy, and prepped with everything we needed. The living room, dining room and kitchen has open concept style, and you can just see ocean through the big living room window. The bed was very comfortable that we had the best sleeps during our trip. We enjoyed everything it offered, from the gorgeous beach right in front to the clay oven pizza making! Heating worked great too, including wood burning stove, that we never felt cold inside of the house. Our pocket wifi worked perfectly fine at the house. It was very convenient to have an a pub/restaurant in 3 minutes walk too. Kate was great at communicating with us and we had no problem with anything during our stay. This cottage is truly the gem and we felt very lucky to be able to stay there. Perfect for rewinding from our busy life. We fell in love with the area, and we would LOVE to come back to this cottage, staying longer next time!
Great guests! Easy and fast communication. Left my place tidy and clean. Welcome anytime back and highly recommended!
