I was born in Lima, Peru very close from the Pacific Ocean. Now I leave in New York, in one of the most free spirited neighborhoods of the city, and my place is also close to the water.

Carmen is the best host you can wish for a longer stay in New York. Thanks to her smart, funny and open personality (and that of her friends) I really felt at home. We joined together in quite some adventures during the time I stayed there, and I will definitily come back. Just for Carmen. The neigbourhood is very nice and lively (check the lovely cinema Nighthawk!). Only negative point I can think of is the subway being about ten blocks away. I would therefore recommend a bike.
The apartment in quite cozy, well-lit, and comfortable, with a good internet connection (but not super cellphone reception). It is situated close to all you need to see in Williamsburg and a short metro ride from Manhattan. There are plenty of shops around, grocery stores, vintage clothing, books, and records, cafés, restaurants, and excellent people-watching. As far as I could tell, it was very safe, as well as bike-friendly.
Carmen is a very helpful and accommodating host, making her guests feel at home. She speaks plenty of languages, and has good suggestions for spots to visit in the neighborhood.
All in all, I had a really good time. I would say, though, that the place is best suited for those who wish to explore Williamsburg's night life in all its hustle and bustle.
Carmen is great, fun and welcoming! I felt at home and relaxed, the place is comfy, the bed was solid. The place is fun and airy! HUGE by NYC standards. Only drawback is it's loft style so the walls between bedrooms don't go to the ceiling, so there's not maximum privacy, but really wasn't an issue and Carmen was out of town a lot during my stay. There's a kitchen, A/C and a nice shower. It's right next to the hipster bar "The Woods", a 10-12 minute walk to L train Bedford stop, or about the same for J/M/Z. I just moved to NYC and am neighborhood shopping, and if you want to stay in Williamsburg with the uber hipsters, it's a solid spot - near Bembe, WMC, BIA, Barcelona (BCN?), etc, lots around, every direction... All in all, great week. Thanks Carmen!
The apartment is super cool and in a great location. Although we did not meet, Carmen seems to be ultra laid back. Thanks!
We had a great stay at Carmens place. we felt welcome and her roommate Alex was a really nice guy. we had good communication thru e-mail before the booking and arrival. The room was exactly like the one on the pictures and the apartment was nice and cozy. The neighborhood felt very safe. The subway station was just 15 minutes away and there were grocery stores and very nice bars around the corner. We'd be happy to stay at Carmens place again! Williamsburg is awsome!
Carmen's friends where really nice. They took care of the place and I would recommend them as guests to others.
we spent exactly 24hours together....Carmen is an exicitable person who knows what exactly she wants! she came like the whirlwind and left like the storm....but we had alot of sunshine whilst together!!!!
