We are from Parksville, Canada : )
We stayed for one night at Kathys place which is really nice located, She gave us really helpful tips what to do the area. The water smell is quite bad and would bother me if staying longer there though Kathys tries her best to make the stay pleasant and provides drinking water.
We stayed 1 night as a couple and our visit was fairly brief. We arrived around 8pm. Directions were great so no trouble finding the house in the dark (it is in a rural area). Kathy was not home but the girl who greeted us showed us our room and was very nice. There were no guests in the other room so we had our own bathroom. There was quite a lot of noise both indoors and out between 2 and 3 am with people arriving home which kept us awake. The room is not very soundproof when there's activity in the home. We met Kathy the next morning, she was extremely pleasant and drew us a map of some places to see in the area.
The area of Parksville caters to tourists and prices reflect this. The room was extremely basic and the shared kitchen was not inviting. We felt it was priced too high for such a basic room with a double bed and shared bath.
Perfect, only the water is a bit smelly! but i would come again! Really Nice!
We enjoyed our stay at your house. Nice clean rooms Thank you for showing us places to visit and we enjoy the conversation with you and Russ. Thank for everything. My sister love Vancouver Island.
Choon and family.
Really enjoyed my time with you in Parksville and the evening on the by the water at that resort. Also made good use of the public library there and the good health food store...was it "Naked Naturals". Apparently they come from all over the island to shop there.
Lovely room and bed, quiet house, hospitable hosts, relaxed atmosphere. Thanks again.
I recommand !!!!
it is The place to be if you want to stay in Parksville.

This is a quiet, clean, spacious place suitable for a short stay and for a holiday. Kathy is a friendly host and her 2nd grade undergraduate of University of Victoria is a nice and pretty girl with talent of art of music. We are luck to have a chance to enjoy her performance on the Errington Market Festival during our 2 night short stay. We also saw energetic and beautiful Kathy riding on horse in the parade of the community festival.
There are pretty of attraction places near by (within minutes drive). The best is Englishman river falls and the grand cliff on the summit of little mountain. The former is well-known place for tourists but the later is dangerous place where is not open to tourists, I guess. But you can get great view there. Be careful and don't walk to the edge of the cliff. It is advised to put down your body and crawl to the edge for a look. If your heart is not strong enough, stay away from the edge of the cliff.
You may complain on the tap wafer. It is well water coming with sulfur smell, a smell of bad egg. But Kathy provides bottled water for drink.
My wife loves the house and its beautiful owner very much, as well as her beautiful daughter.
To me, it would be much better if the frig had had more space.
In general, I strongly recommend Kathy's house.
Kathy house is the perfect exemple of "place in the trees " as we can expect from Canada. Pretty quiet place, living house, friendly hosts. There's a lot of space an light in the house, we would have the same on in europe ;-) as the house is in the forest, water is a bit tasty, but anyway you can make your job whith it. Englishman falls, " Goats on the roof " market, cathedrale grove forest, and tofino not so faire away was our good points of interest coming there.
Nice space, comfortable bed, and gracious host. Well water with some sulphur smell. Plenty of bottled water for drinking. A great value.
