We are a married couple (15 years), enjoy traveling, sports, and music.
The cottage was perfect for our overnight stay. The beds were comfortable and the loft was fun for my daughter. The location is amazing: so close to the Inner Harbour and downtown, we walked everywhere.
Dan and Naoko were so welcoming and kind, making sure we had all that we needed. Breakfast was delicious!
Stayed in the carriage house cabin. Enjoyed chatting with Dan and his family, including his young boy Tom (future guitarist). The carriage house has one main room with a loft up a ladder. We had some challenges getting wifi at first but Dan made some adjustments and made sure it got taken care of. The beds were great and made for a very comfortable stay.
Dan and Naoko were awesome hosts. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay, especially the breakfast in the morning. The location couldn't be better, just a block or two from Emily Carr's house, the ocean and the parliament buildings. I would definitely recommend staying here! Also be sure to ask Dan about the history of the carriage house, very interesting.
Although we never got to meet Dan & Naoko, (our travel arrangements fell through due to inclement weather) I cannot speak more highly of them. Dan was very understanding about our predicament, in our no-fault flight cancellation, and did not charge us for the rental, even though we had infringed upon the cancellation notification timeline. He even helped open a support ticket to help us have our booking resolved through airbnb! Would definitely go back to them, hopefully more succesfully :)
The Carriage House is a perfect location if you do not have a car and want to explore downtown Victoria on foot. I had a large room with plenty of space. The hosts, Dan and Naoko are very kind and gracious. They provided me with a simple breakfast in the morning and plenty of coffee. Great conversations to be had around the dining room table. Highly recommend it and reasonably priced.
We were with Dan and Naoko for a single night. We arrived at the house a little bit early in the day, and spent the afternoon exploring the area around Victoria. Our room was ready a little bit earlier than advertised which was very nice, it was clean and very pleasant. We didn't try the TV. The only very minor downside was that the room took a little bit of time to warm up as the weather was unseasonably cold in Victoria during our trip.
Breakfast was very good, I had eggs, toast and ham while my wife had french toast, and ham. When we left to explore for the day they let us leave our bags with them, which was very helpful for our trip.
Overall this was a very nice experience. Dan and Naoko were nice and helpful while also letting us have our own space. The house is within walking distance of the ferry from Seattle, and they're very nice hosts.
The Carriage House was lovely. Particularly enjoyed the very large, open shower. Everything was clean, the location was very convenient, and you get complimentary breakfast by a woodstove! Would definitely stay here again.
Our stay was all we hoped it would be. Great room for the money, incredible view out the bath window. Clean, comfortable and convenient to the town. Will definitely stay there again.
Six weeks away from the birth of my first child, I decided that I needed to get away for a weekend to visit family and friends on my own. Though I grew up in Victoria, I wanted a place to retreat to for some solitary time, and Dan and Naoko provided the perfect solution with the Carriage House.
The Sun Room was nothing fancy but clean and cozy with a comfortable bed. Though the bathroom was shared, having a vanity sink in my room was a welcome perk. Dan and Naoko were warm and friendly, their small son was hilarious, clever, and sweet, and breakfast was delicious. Because I had to leave extra-early after my last night, they graciously packed me a to-go breakfast. They also gave me the space I needed to have some time on my own.
For travellers who aren't familiar with Victoria, the Carriage House B & B is perfectly located within a 10 minute walk of downtown AND right next door to Beacon Hill Park, James Bay, and Dallas Road, all must-visit spots in the city. There is truly no need for a vehicle if you're staying at the Carriage House: Victoria is made for walking!
Veeery friendly and heartly people, cosy place, huge room, very well located, nhsmmy breakfast - nothing was missing :-)
