My host was welcoming but cautioned me not to let on I was staying there through airbnb. Made me feel uncomfortable. He was upset with another person who gave less than a stellar review after being shown around but I was also unhappy but stayed also.
Steven had his golf clubs, several plastic storage boxes, a huge (on a rolling stand, not flat screen) TV, an industrial shop fan, and a PVC contraption of unknown use but adequate bulk in the small studio. The vacuum cleaner, mop and cleaning supplies in the closet I was using was a nice touch. The windows had no screens and you had to stand on the couch to open and shut them, and that was nearly impossible! The ocean view he shows was taken hanging off the back of the big couch. It was a small space made smaller by too many person belongings. A bar of Dial soap made up the amenities.
So the answer to why I didn't walk out is: I HAD NO OTHER PLACE TO STAY!!
Steven and the space were both fantastic. The building had a lot to offer and it was only minutes from downtown.
Steven's place was very nice and convenient. Would highly recommend.
This was a huge disappointment. The 10 reviews were positive but I realized (after the fact) they were for the host’s Dana Point listing, not Long Beach, where I stayed.
As for the photos:
Ocean view from the unit is a lie. The unit is NOT waterfront – it faces the apartments next door (yes, they can see into your apartment). The lone window in the unit faces west, so for about 4 hours each day the apartment is unbearably hot, stuffy, and blindingly bright. NO (website hidden), Piano and Bed. Yes, and golf clubs, a clothing rack and valet, beach chairs, old DVDs, oversized stuffed animal, boxes of files and other junk/clutter in a small 500 sq. ft. studio apartment. Saggy sofa with (website hidden) had spotty reception, sometimes none at all. Windows were caked with dirt.
City view from the unit? Maybe, if you lean out and stick your camera out of the window.
Ocean / beach view is not from the unit.
Now, I could have put up with all of this but for the funky bathroom. The toilet was dirty and there were pubic hairs around the rim, ring in the bathtub and mildew on the shower curtain. Towels were shabby. Bed comforter and linens were old and worn. We purchased cleaning supplies to clean the bathroom and kitchen ourselves. We also purchased towels and washcloths.
It is extremely overpriced for what you get. Don’t be deceived by the photos.
Great location, corner 2nd floor, street parking out front. Neighbors bang on the wall if you make normal volume kitchen noises early in the morning. Other than that, good value. I would definitely stay again.
I needed a place to work and sleep within a reasonable drive of both San Diego and LA, and Steven's place was perfect. Good price, clean, reasonably spacious (but I live in NY, so everything feels spacious), and it has access to a pool so I could steal away for a quick s(website hidden)ring the workday. Not far from the Dana Point harbor, where there are bars, restaurants and boat trips available, and decently close to the nightlife in Laguna Beach.
Nice apartment. Well located for those who want to explore the different beaches around there.
Nice clean Condo! Location is great, second floor in quiet neighborhood with friendly people! Only blocks away from the main street area of Dana Point. Great access to Laguna, San Clemente, and freeways. Garage to keep rental car in, internet access and flat screen TV. Host always available to answer questions! I used as a home base for a project I'm working on nearby, much better than staying in hotel.
I rented out this condo with three other friends and we had a blast. The area was very quiet and the couple downstairs very nice. It is within 5-10 min walking distance to the shopping and dining area in Dana Point and the grovery store either a 15 min walk or 3 minute drive. The condo had everything we needed, hot tub and pool access, and a laundry facility next to the pool area. I definately recommend staying there if you are in town.
Communication about the key hadn´t been so good: we had to phone, because we stand in front of the houses, didn´t know which is the right condo and where the key is. The condo is ok, but the kitchen wasn´t really clean and there were only three glasses and no smaller plates for breakfast. We all liked the pool. And the garage is nice too.
