Appartement sympathique situé non loin du métro Beaubien et proche du boulevard St Laurent.
Cependant un peu cher par rapport aux commodités ( pas de wifi )
Johanna and Nicolas were able to accommodate me with almost no notice, though the apartment appeared not to have been cleaned before I arrived. Apartment was as described.
I guess the rush didnt work in our favour. Hope to improve for your next trip to MTL.

I had a very enjoyable stay at the Rustic Cabin! After three days in the bustling city of Medellin, I was ready to explore rural Colombia. The rustic cabin nestled in the mountains overlooking the town of Santa Elena was a perfect place to do so.
For a small fee Nicolas and Johanna picked me up at my airbnb apartment in Medellin and drove me up to the cabin (which is approximately 45 minutes up a massive hill). They did a very thorough job of orienting me to the surroundings: showing me how to walk to Santa Elena, Parque Arvi, how to take the bus to Guatape (highly recommended excursion), back to Medellin, etc. Their hospitality allowed me to acclimate easily into the rural life and feel confident exploring the region.
The cabin itself is indeed rustic, but in a charming way, the sort of place you would imagine Henry David Thorough lived in while writing Walden. It succeeded atmosphere was the quiet space I was looking for to write poetry. While I saught out solitude, the coziness would also make for an enjoyable romantic getaway for two.
The town of Santa Elena (25 minutes walk downhill) was an enjoyable mix of hippie paisa culture. My arrival on Saturday coincided with a town fiesta where the locals rejoiced with cumbia music, sugary delicacies and aguardiente. The fiesta was still going strong when I returned Sunday evening, but the week-day nights were calmer, the only activities being soccer games and a catholic mass.
To potential cabin goers I recommend heeding Nicolas and Johanna’s advice and bringing a jacket. I did not and was forced to buy one from a tiendita in the town square.
Overall this place comes highly recommended. Enjoy your bucolic adventure!
I had a great but brief visit with Joahanna and Nicolas. They were great hosts, talked me in on Whatsapp. Everything was as described. My only regret was not being able to visit more!
Nicholas and Joanna were lovely hosts! They were friendly, very interesting to talk to and very generous with there beautiful, clean apartment. The metro was out while I was here so Nicholas took the time to write out all the possible bus names that would get me to my spansih class. I loved chatting with Joanna in Spanish and she gave me great ideas for a trip south to the coffee zone. The doormen, Esteban and Julio, are also wonderful and a very friendly way to be welcomed home at the end of the day. The location is excellent with cool breazes off the mountains. Very safe and quiet neighborhood, very close to the metro and close to the main center of Envigado. Easy to grab a cab and head up into the mountains for a day hike too, and a quick bus ride home after. All around I loved my stay here and extended it longer because I loved this city and this location so much. Thank you, Nicholas and Joanna!!
Great hosts.... very helpful. Good location. I felt very safe there. Ana was very helpful and kind. I hope I will stay there again one day. Thanks guys.
Staying with Nicolas and Johanna was really great. The place was clean and organized. They were extremely nice and showed me around. I will definitely stay with them again next time I'm in town.
Johanna and Nicolas were excellent guests. They were easy going, and pleasant, and they got out and enjoyed the city during their time here. I didn't get much chance to talk to Johanna, but Nicolas and I had some nice conversations about shared interests. Highly recommended!
