It was February of 1988 when April and Pinto first met while gracing the floors of Vancouver’s Harbour Dance Studio with their Latin and Ballroom dance prowess. Since their first encounter, their dance has evolved from love to marriage, to home and family, to the eventual collaboration and creation of one of the Fraser Valley’s most unique bed and breakfasts, La Belle Maison.
Pinto was born and raised on the Island of Madeira, Portugal, a small island nestled amid the Madeiran Archipelago just north of the African Coast. He is blessed with a talent for languages and speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and French. It was on the Island, at age 15, that Pinto began his lifelong career in the hotel, service and travel industries by joining the staff of the renowned Reid’s Hotel. After completing his schooling in Madeira, Pinto travelled to Jersey, Channel Islands, to accept a position as Head Bar Manager for the prestigious British Hotel. His explorer’s heart then took him to Canada where he served as Maitre’d for both the beautiful Chateau Lacombe in Edmonton, Alberta and the elegant Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, British Columbia. With his love for travel and service, Pinto then joined CP Air and travelled the world. After 35 years with the airline industry, as both flight attendant and In-flight Customer Service Director, Pinto has recently retired his wings. Besides his pastime love of golf and tennis, Pinto has always been passionate about entertaining and bringing joy and laughter to all those who meet him. So now, with a lifetime of experience and recognition for excellence in the service industry, his journey brings him to the next phase of his life’s work; sharing his impeccable service skills and entertaining personality with those who come to stay at La Belle Maison Bed and Breakfast Executive Guest Suite.
Born and raised in the breathtaking city of Vancouver, April shares Pinto’s passion for entertaining and pampering. Her love for all things beautiful can be seen in the design and décor of La Belle Maison Bed and Breakfast, as well as in the culinary delights created in her Tuscan-style kitchen.
Before, and during, her 30 year career in the legal profession, April worked as a professional dancer and dance teacher, winning numerous ballroom dancing awards. In her capacity as a dancer, she also worked with an Events Production Company, and had the privilege to work alongside Ted Danson and Annie Potts during filming of the movie “Cousins”. She has also enjoyed and participated in many sporting activities and events.
Although an accomplished athlete over the years, April’s passions have always been most closely aligned with the creative. To design and share La Belle Maison and its beautiful environment with those in search of reprieve from the hectic pace of daily life, and to bring to those the joy and pleasure of warm hospitality and relaxation, has been a dream come true for April.
Today, Pinto is retired and April continues to work in the legal field. In addition to operating La Belle Maison Bed and Breakfast, April & Pinto continue their love of dance and, as their time permits, have also enjoyed teaching Salsa classes together at a local dance studio. The couple have a daughter, Brigitte; also an accomplished and awarded dancer. Brigitte is presently pursuing a Master’s degree in physiotherapy. Above all, she is April & Pinto’s most divine creation and their greatest source of pride and joy.
Together, April, Pinto and Brigitte, have created La Belle Maison Bed and Breakfast Executive Guest Suite, as an expression of their individual and combined characters and personalities. They invite and welcome you to come and experience their devotion to your pleasure and comfort, whether it be a romantic getaway, a leisure or business stay, or a stop along the journey to your next destination or adventure.
