Hi! Thank you for checking out our property and taking a look at us. We've been married for seven years and friends for 15. Both of us have lived exclusively in various cities around the country since leaving our parents homes as teens. We never thought we would stop living in cities. The restaurants, the music, the art and fashion! However on our first trip to Woodstock in Sept 2011 we totally fell in love with this town. It has everything we love about cities. Six months later, tired of being pushed further and further out into the wilds of Brooklyn in a hopeless search for affordable SPACE , we decided to sell our building in Buschwick and buy this amazing property. And just like that, we're moving to Woodstock!
The property is right in town, located in a friendly neighborhood right behind the movie theater. There are two buildings on the property, the main house where we live and a one story building housing The Rocket Room studio at one end and the Bohemian Rhapsody one bedroom at the other. Separating the two apartments are Erin's art and fashion studios, so there is no noise from one space to the next. The place was built in the 1928 and we have kept many of the original fixtures. We are both life long vintage-philes and believe things were often more beautiful and better built years ago.
Erin is a known illustrator, fashion designer, author and professor (on temporary leave from Pratt Institute). Martin owned a contracting business in Brooklyn. For the past year we have both put our other businesses on hold while we worked on opening The White Dove Rockotel here in Woodstock. It's a four suite rock and roll theme hotel housed in a 1865 Victorian. The project was conceptualized and designed by Erin and renovated by Martin and a local crew. If we are full here you should check it out! It's right down the block.
As hosts its our goal to make you as comfortable as possible. We've both been traveling extensively since we were teens. Each of us has seen most of this amazing country, (Martin 49 states and Erin 48!). We have also visited over 30 other countries world wide. Like most people we really appreciate a great luxury resort but more often we try to seek out mom and pop joints that are imbibed with local flavor and puts us in contact with people that actually live in and contribute to the local community and economy.
With our spaces we have done our best to create the kind of vacation environment we enjoy. We designed our places to be funky and unusual, if you are looking for department store furniture, oversized TVs and Target decor you may want to look elsewhere. We are not trying to mimic corporate hotel culture with its perfect and bland environments. That said we offer clean, quiet spaces filled with beautifully designed vintage and modern pieces. There are interesting movies to watch and books to read. The bedding and towels are all high end as are the mattresses. We include extras like free coffee, tea and bath products. We pride ourselves on communication and customer service and strive to make sure our guests have a fantastic experience.
