I was thoroughly disappointed with the apartment. Booked the apartment for my parents during their 1 week stay and the place was not as captured on picture.
1.The shower/ toilet facilities were not renovated as mentioned- sink broken with sharp edges - nearly cut my dad.
2. Messy and dirty - many of owner's clothes and shoes occupied ALL storage compartment in a very disorganized manner and not to mention scattered sporadically in the living room. Carpet very dirty, uncomfortable to sink your feet/ shoes into.
3. Ved is communicative but this isn't helpful if he promised to send a cleaner to 're-organize' the house for 3 days back-to-back but no one came in the end. So my parents gave up and tolerated the mess for the next 4 days of the stay.
If one is not bothered by uncomfortable messy living area, then the place has its good points: being strategically located within short distance to Lancaster Gate tube station and behind Paddington station. Credits to him for clean towels and bed sheet but the stay was not very welcoming, sadly. Ved needs to step up his game!
The flat is centrally located near Hyde Park and also Lancaster Gate tube station. Comfortable enough for 2 nights stay but a bit untidy, the wardrobe doors stick, and bathroom is fine but not renovated as stated. Toilet flush worked for us but a bit unreliable at times. We were disappointed with overall experience. Firstly we were sent a text by Ved asking if we minded the prior guests leaving their luggage for a couple of hours. This meant we would have to wait in once we arrived so they could access apartment and pick it up. They never did and we had the luggage in lounge our entire stay. We arrived at agreed time and no one responded to our buzzing intercom. Rang Ved who got in touch with cleaning service as cleaner was to let us in. We waited on steps 30 mins in full sun (lucky not raining) only for her to appear and let us in. She was obviously there the entire time. Then we had to sit in lounge while she finished up. There was damp clean laundry in the machine she didn't know what to do with so chucked it in a dirty laundry hamper at end of our bed! We then were texted by Ved again asking if it was okay he call around and collect some of his things that evening. We didn't need to wait in for him and he would access apt with his own keys. I feel if we pay for an apartment it should be ours only the entire time and these requests were not reasonable especially given we had paid 3 nights and only used 2. That was our error with booking and I was happy to wear the cost but in hindsight wish I had asked for the refund now.
Great location with access to tube and buses. A few problems with the toilet flushing. We booked for three, however the third was a bed on the couch. Tidiness was a little concern as you have to.work around personal items which have been pushed aside. It did the job ,but only just.
I really enjoyed my stay. Place was clean, fully furnished, and in a fantastic location. Would recommend it to anyone.
The location is fantastic. That was basically it.
Yes, we had to wait for the cleaner to finish up while we awkwardly sat in the living room since she was not done when we arrived at the agreed upon time. Yes, the place was a bit cluttered, and the toilet does not work very well. Yes, the internet would randomly stop working. And no, the bathroom had definitely not been remodeled like the listing states.
None of these were the real problem though. The problem was that they were doing some kind of construction in the building, which was unreasonably loud. As in, the walls and floor of the unit were shaking due to the vibrations. I live in a large city and am used to noise, but I have never experienced anything like this before. The work started promptly at 8am, and did not let up for hours and hours, meaning that we were not able to sleep in or even to return in the afternoon for a catnap. I fully realize that this is not the owner's personal doing, but I do think that it would have been reasonable to let us know ahead of time. Had I known it would be *so* loud, I never would have stayed here.
Excellent apartment with a helpful and flexible host. We especially enjoyed the apartments proximity to Hyde Park and the easy 20 minute hire bike access to the city through the parks.
The flat has a great location. Ved is very friendly. The flat was even ready early and Ved texted us to tell us he was waiting for us whenever we arrived. Then he indicated us some places to eat as we asked him.
The flat looked like the pictures, with all the DVDs in the living room, a separated bedroom, etc... There was hi-speed wifi. Contrary to some previous comments, Ved gave us clean towels, clean sheets and there were toilet rolls (two) !
Place could be cleaner though. There were some hair in the bathtub, and the bins weren't empty. The bed is a bit soft. And toilet was a little faulty but Ved warned us and explained how to use the flush.
It was a nice place to stay for one weekend, really practical !
First off, I want to acknowledge that Ved helped us out very last minute and saved us from having to pay $350+ for a hotel during what seemed like the busiest week ever to be in London (Wimbledon, I suppose?).
With that said, I could give Ved the benefit of the doubt that maybe he had not been anticipating people to stay when we did. He was out of town and thus we only had one option to check in (meet the cleaner at 7pm), but the flexible check out time balanced it out. No towels or clean sheets provided, but some toilet paper was. The toilet didn't give us any problems because we were careful not to flush anything too big down.
Overall, I would say the pictures were not an accurate reflection of flat while we were there - there was more clutter in the bedroom, living room, and kitchen. The bathroom did not appear to be renovated. The mattress was a little uncomfortable (one of us slept on the couch). BUT, with all that said, the location is fantastic - 10 mins walk to Paddington (convenient for the Heathrow Express!), and Lancaster Gate (Central line) is just around the corner, along with Hyde Park & Kensington Palace. That, and the no-fuss/reliable wifi made it worth it.
Great location! That's it, I'm afraid. We were disappointed overall with this experience. Had to wait for two hours after agreed arrival time to be let into the flat by irate cleaner. Host had warned us to flush paper separately but toilet still blocked (no plunger) and we had to organise plumber, losing valuable holiday time and meanwhile using facilities at hotel over the road (embarrassing). Bathroom in extremely poor condition and definitely not renovated as advertised. Had to rely on text messages to communicate with host who was unavailable by phone (frustrating). The TV had no free-to-air reception, only played DVDs. The kitchen had no toaster, and only one saucepan (others on top of cupboards which could not be reached). Nice Nespresso machine, however! Judging from other reviews and our experience, this host needs to lift his game if his flat is to meet guests' expectations of comfortable, enjoyable accommodation. Linda and John
