Living in Toronto, but love to travel and explore new places with my husband and baby girl!
We loved the Schoolhouse!
It's an easy drive from Toronto and in a lovely area. The house is charming, with some great retro furnishings and decor. We went on a few walks, but generally enjoyed the house for the weekend.
Kristine was really accomodating with ten of us staying, and with all the questions I emailed through to her! Despite there being so many of us we had plenty of room, and had a great time cooking in the kitchen.
We found the house really warm and comfortable, filled with rustic charm.
Highly recommended! Thanks Kristina.
We had a lovely stay at the School house! The place nicely accommodated 5 people for sleeping and hanging out. It had quite a cool design and lots of character. It was nice and warm during our stay, despite the cold temps outside.
Kristina is a fantastic host! She was really great at providing information long ahead of our stay and a nice quick email before we left Toronto. Thanks for a great stay!
Very funky place, with lots of character, and cool antiques scattered throughout the house.
Kristina was a fantastic host, answering all our questions in a timely fashion.
if going in the winter, we highly recommend the hike through the farmer's property (if it's open), which brings you to the top of a hill that gives you a great view of the lake.
As others have said, Kristina is a fantastic host. Several weeks ahead of our trip she emailed directions, a map etc. She was always prompt to respond and made sure that toys were left out for our kids to use during our stay- so thoughtful. This is a great house in the winter (and I'm sure it would be in the summer)- I recommed sledding down the hill in the backyard and going for a skate in Norland!
The Schoolhouse was the perfect place to get away from the city for a night. Incredibly comfortable, even in winter, and a very big, very fun kitchen. We had no issue getting the place as warm as we needed, and we even managed to have a fire out back once we moved some snow out of the way! Kristina communicated promptly and clearly and there were absolutely no issues there. Nothing could have been better.
Kristina's Schoolhouse is a beautiful cozy place! We would most certainly recommend it to anybody looking for a relaxing, comfortable and picturesque getaway. We quite honestly could not have hoped for more. We had a great time and Kristina did a great job!! she also helped us with information on the hiking trails in the area. Thanks a again :)
We had a wonderful winter weekend at the Schoolhouse. Things were a little chilly until we realized that the thermostat that controlled the main room was in a smaller (and warmer!) room, so the temperature feedback loop wasn't working. Artificially setting that higher made everything nice and toasty.
There's lots of antique pieces to appreciate, but watch your head on the pew when sitting down on the couch! The caretakers graciously shovelled us out after a big snowfall before we even got out of bed! Nice.
Although there was a mix up with our check-in, everything was quickly resolved. We had a great time at the school house! It is so quirky with the details, like the dining table that probably used to be a door. The place is great for family gatherings. We especially enjoyed playing the guitar that was there and appreciated the DVDs. The kitchen has pretty much all you need! My only issue was that the living room was quite cold despite the electronic in-door fireplace, so if you are going in the winter, I recommend bringing a warm sweater and socks. Also if you plan to come around a holiday, bring your own groceries/drinks since it is a small town and shops may be closed. All in all, I would definitely come back again, and recommend this place to everyone!
What a beautiful place, lots of cachet, well stocked kitchen and many things to do! My friends and i had a wonderful time and would gladly come back! Kristina is a wonderful host who returned communication promptly and had lots of great advice to make our stay better.
We had a great time at the schoolhouse and really enjoyed it. The snow outside and the charme of the old building really contributed to the Christmas feeling and we spent a lovely holiday. People who feel cold quickly should rather consider coming in summer, as the furnace takes some time to heat up the huge room. :) Or maybe we were just unlucky and had a specially cold Christmas ;)
All in all we had a very great time walking in the snow, cooking and just enjoying the charm of the schoolhouse.
Krisina was easy to communicate with and everything was well prepared upon our arrival.
Thanks for everything!
Kristina and her family were fantastic guests! She was wonderful to work with during the booking process and very responsive to anything I asked for. They were very careful to take care of the condo and worked very well with the property management. We would love to have Kristina and her family back as guests any time!
