Kristina was great - she answered all our questions and offered up advice for the area. Balsam Lake provincial park is close by, and we were able to go on some really nice hikes. The Schoolhouse was nice and cozy, decorated very nicely, and quaint. We loved the big kitchen and the movie selection.
We had a lovely stay at the school house for a bachelorette weekend getaway. The bride is a teacher so the cottage was a perfect fit. It
Comfortably accommodated 6 and there is an awesome art gallery right around the corner. I would definitely recommend it!
The schoolhouse was just as described, very quirky and a nice open space. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, cutlery and pots and pans for cooking meals and the fridge was very clean!! A great space to cook in!
There was a huge selection of DVDs and puzzles, which was great because it happened to be raining one of the days we were there and it made such a difference to us. There are a couple of cute antique stores/flea markets a short drive away as well as Balsam Lake PP which has some nice walking trails and a small beach.
Kristina was very easy to get ahold of. Because it was raining it was quite cold and she helped us figure out getting it nice and cozy inside. There is a big chest full of blankets and once the heat is on it is very comfortable. If you are going in the winter, because it's such a large space, I would bring slippers and a cozy sweater.
Overall, a lovely experience:)
We stayed 3 days/2 nights in Schoolhouse Number 9 and it was a lot of fun. Our kids (11 and 8) loved exploring the building and the yard. Cats and bunnies roamed freely and were an unexpected bonus. It exceeded our expectations as a unique and fun place to spend our mini vacation.
The location was also great. Evenings were quiet and the lack of city lights made for great start gazing (and views of the super moon). A short drive took us to a beautiful beach and to lovely Fenelon Falls.
Kristina was a great host. The booking was smooth and she answered all our questions quickly. Thanks so much Kristina.
Kristina was excellent to deal with. She provided us with directions to all places nearby including swimming, local spots and very detailed directions. The house had a great charm and authenticity to it. We arrived to a message on one of the chalkboards with everything we needed to know and felt welcomed. Balsam Lake was less than a 10 minute drive and it was a great swimming/beach day spot.
Overall, a great experience with a great host!
The Schoolhouse quickly became our home away from home for 2 nights for our group of 6 adults. It was the perfect size for our group and as we arrived we each marveled at the historic charm and character this property has to offer. It offers a homely lived-in feel and an intriguing range of early 1900's school day memorabilia - we particularly loved the musical instrument collection, including an organ! There is something interesting to be discovered in every nook and corner and all reports are that the beds were very comfortable. Kristina was a friendly and accommodating host who did her utmost to make our stay a comfortable one. If you're looking for old world charm in beautiful surroundings with roaming kittens and bunnies to cuddle look no further!
Kristina was very responsive by email and answered all of my questions promptly. The Schoolhouse was clean and the info Kristina provided ahead of time was very useful for planning purposes. The listing was definitely accurate, I knew exactly what to expect of the property before arriving (with the exception of the stairs to the upper level, which are kind of on the steep side).
The neighbourhood was more residential than I had anticipated. Quiet and fairly private, just a little bit less like a cottage than I was expecting. All in all though everything was great - from the wood provided for the fire pit to the extra bed set up for our 7th group member, my friends and I had a great time at the Schoolhouse. We especially liked the open concept design.
I should mention though that about half of us didn't have cell signal while at the Schoolhouse. It seems to vary depending on which network you're with; Telus proved to have better reception than Rogers. Just a heads up for future guests!
Great experience, wonderful location, charming and lovely spot for our 2 night stay. Kristina was extremely helpful.
The schoolhouse is such a great property, and Kristina a very attentive house. We had a little bit of trouble with noise the first evening upon our arrival, but it quieted down and everything was great after that. A really nice place to spend with family/friends for a weekend. Balsam Lake Park was lovely and the perfect swimming spot for us and our 1 year old niece. There is not a lot of food options in the immediate area, so make sure you bring food to cook. We enjoyed Kirkfield restaurant and Pattie House in Coboconk.
Kristina and her husband were easy going and pleasant guests. I would enjoy hosting them again.
Kristina and her family were fantastic guests! She was wonderful to work with during the booking process and very responsive to anything I asked for. They were very careful to take care of the condo and worked very well with the property management. We would love to have Kristina and her family back as guests any time!
