Living in Maui, love to travel, love Hawaiian music and sunsets on the beach. I love sharing my Aloha for the islands.

Carmel was very gracious via email and telephone. We did not meet in person, but Ivan stopped by to see if we needed anything. Carmel left Kula strawberries and local donuts as a welcome treat which was very kind. I should have researched the location more thoroughly. We are beach people and we were at least a 30 minute drive to the beach. The neighborhood was quiet. There really isn't anything in Pukalani except a small strip mall with a great supermarket, a bank and a post office. There is also a golf course. We were disappointed with the house. There was no dining table. The room off the kitchen had two over stuffed sofas and a set of tray tables. We had hoped to cook but eating off tray tables is not ideal. The house and the kitchen were cluttered with lots of personal "stuff." The toaster was very old and not working very well. The coffee maker worked but the filters didn't fit properly. Gosh I hate to complain so much. The good things: washer and dryer were in good working order. The sunsets were delicious. The bathrooms were clean but older, except for the newish floor tiles. There were plenty of towels for our use, including beach towels which we found in a hall closet. The beds were just OK in terms of comfort.
Great hostess. Property was exactly as described. When we had some medical problems pop up she was extremely gracious in helping us in anyway that she could. I would highly recommend this owner and property.
Great central place to stay on Maui - easy to drive to Haleakala, west coast and south coast towns, and the road to Hana. Enough beds and space for our family of 5 adults. Carmel and Ivan were very welcoming and helpful, and they were very flexible with check-in and check-out times. The grocery store within 5 minutes was convenient.
Carmel and Ivan could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. Staying in their home was a relaxing and wonderful experience. They truly went above and beyond. I highly recommend them and would stay there again if given the opportunity. Thank you!
We loved staying at "Upcountry Maui Living" in Makawao! Carmen and Ivan were so gracious and helpful, and even though we booked at the very last minute, they were extremely accommodating, and we were very grateful. Both were quick to respond, and the house is clean and very homey. The view from the back patio is awesome too, and we very much enjoyed watching the sun set behind the mountain and enjoying the beautiful view. The neighborhood is also nice and quiet, and we wish we could have stayed longer!
Mahalo nui again Carmen & Ivan!
We had a great stay in the "Upcountry Maui Living". It is well situated to visit the Haleakala. You have plenty of room and all what you need, expect a dining table.
Carmen's Makawao house is the perfect place for a getaway. It is spacious and in a quiet neighborhood in Maui's upcountry area. You will wake up to a gorgeous view of fields, sky, ocean, and mountains. The house is clean and Carmen is a very communicative hostess. If you have a larger party, there are plenty of extra blankets, pillows, sheets and towels. We really appreciated Carmen's generosity. We truly felt as if we were home!
Thank you Fabe, it was wonderful having you! If you ever come back to Maui call me and we will give a better deal since I know you are a great guest :) thanks for staying at our home
The house is spacious with 3 bedrooms and is equipped with plenty of towels, kitchen appliances and cooking utensils. It is situated at a convenient location as it is close to a grocery store and several restaurants. Carmen is very welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations for things to do in Maui. Thank you Carmen!
Carmen has made very good preparation and shows her hospitality before our check-in, and the house is well decorated and all the facilities run very well. Also the house is close to the food market.
We booked this house because of its location between Kahului and Haleakala. It was also located close to a shopping center which served our purposes. It was a bit disconcerting on arrival in that it seemed someone was still there- the owners could have left that morning without doing much at all. Facilities were good, but there was no table other than a coffee table. Bedrooms were comfortable, if rather small. All in all, for what we paid, reasonable value.
great guest friendly and clean they are welcome hear anytime aloha Carmen
