I stayed here for 4 months and it was okay. It is definitely a basic and no frills accommodation.
The Room: The room is huge and has a full sized bed, desk and bookshelf. The bed had no sheets, only a dirty-looking comforter, when I arrived which was pretty unsettling. Luckily, there is a Target down the street where I was able to buy a set of sheets. There is a balcony that lets some great light in, but the blinds are broken (don't slide back and forth) and the door doesn't seal properly so you can hear all the traffic and conversations happening outside. The walk-in closet was nice and came with a few hangers which was useful.
The Bathroom: It was full of hair, dirt and dead bugs when I arrived. I had to completely wipe it down with clorox and bought shelf liners. The towel hook was coming off the wall and hanging by the screw precariously - but it never actually fell off (I guess towels aren't that heavy). Otherwise, the shower had nice water pressure and it was nice to have a private bathroom.
The Kitchen: I have nothing positive to say about the kitchen. It was disgusting. I set out to deep clean it one day and pulled out several large trash bags of expired food, molding food, and empty food containers (I found 11 empty bowls of noodles in a cabinet…?!). The microwave smelled horrid and required an intense scrubbing just to get the stuck food off and the fridge was a chaotic, messy, gross mess (it looked like someone would spill something and then leave the mess there to cake and rot). And to top it off, there was always either a hoard of fruit flies or a cockroach in there. I had to live in the apartment for 4 months, so I had to cook occasionally, but I really dreaded being there.
Other: I loved having access to a washing machine and dryer in the apartment, it was super convenient. There is also AC and heating – but one of the roommates loved to turn off the AC and open the balcony to let the fruit flies and (85 degree and higher) air in. This occurred even after trying to explain that this was uncomfortable for me, so don’t rely on it being cool. I never actually met Raven, I met her sister, but she seemed reasonable and nice. It was very difficult to communicate at times. When I first arrived I didn’t know the code to the gate or where to go, but it eventually worked out. She didn’t always respond to my texts, but she responded to the AirBnB messaging system, so I would try my best to communicate through that service.
Overall, this place was the cheapest option I could find in the area (centrally located area) and it showed. I was fine here, but if you’re looking for something ritzy, this is not it.
The room was good and clean. The roommates are quite and behaved. The position of the condo is convenient to reach the Reliant stadium (walking) and the Texas Medical Center (by bus). The host is accurate and timely.
My stay at the master bedroom with bath, walk-in closet and balcony has been very nice. I stayed there for a couple of weeks and felt very comfortable. The roommates Peter and Jerry have been very very hospitable and helpful, I will miss both of them. The condo has a fully equipped kitchen that I could use. Also, there is a pool that you can use. Public transportation as well as groceries, restaurants etc. are within walking distance, which is very cool. Bottom line, I would definitely rent from Raven again.
This is a huge room with your own private bath all to yourself. You get to cook and share the kitchen with other room mates. Room mates are awesome! Had some issues in receivin(website hidden) but got that sorted out. You have gated parking which is good and I was assigned a car port for free by the management office.
It is close to downtown Houston so it's centrally located.
Room is comfortable and big, private bathroom is clean and roommates are friendly!
