I have lived here in Armory Park for more than 30 years. I love the history, the architecture and the wonderfull neighbors.
I am an artist and an art teacher, and my passions (besides my art) are gardening and reading.

Check-in was so easy with Kathleen greeting us on arrival. House was very charming, air conditioning worked well and location was perfect for exploring Tucson. Loved having coffee and brunch at the Market one block away. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit. Everything was perfect!
Kathleen was wonderful. She was closely in touch and attuned to my needs long before my actual travel date. When she found out that I would prefer not to rent a car she acquired a bicycle for me, along with a new helmet, lock, and light. When I arrived, Kathleen went out of her way to shop for me as I was too busy with work, and when she heard that I like doing yoga in the mornings she brought me her yoga mat.
The house is charming: it is quaint, with much attention paid to the small details and a lot of unique artwork. In addition, it has a wonderful collection of over 20 tea pots - perfect for tea lovers like myself.
My only caveat was the noise from the train tracks. It wasn't a big disturbance for two of the three nights I was there, but for some reason the train driver was pressing on the horn for half the night on one of the nights, which made for quite a miserable sleep that night. So if you are very sensitive to noise, as I am, you might need to come prepared with earplugs (which Kathleen had kindly supplied me) and some sort of mechanism for producing white noise. A taxi driver told me that the noise that night was quite exceptional, so this might not even be an issue for you.
Thank you, Kathleen, for everything -- it was one of the best airbnb experience I have had, despite the train.
We enjoyed our brief stay at the Kathleen's Artist Guest House. The home was a charming little cottage within walking distance of downtown Tucson. The pictures posted are are good representation of the house and we didn't find any surprises.
Kathleen was a pleasant host, though we only interacted with her briefly.
Overall, both myself and my wife were pleased with our stay.
We had a wonderful time at Kathleen's beautiful guest house.
We loved the big backyard and front porch (picture's don't do it justice) with a sweet shaded eating area and lovely wicker furniture for lounging. You can watch the sunset over the mountains from the front porch! We began each day with a sunny meal with fresh squeezed orange juice (Kathleen has a juicer and we arrived to a big bowl of local citrus for juice-making).
It was fabulous to have all her baby gear (pack 'n play, booster seat and stroller). It meant we could travel without schlepping excessively.
The kitchen is well-equipped and comfortable: we were even able to prepare a big meal for my 95-year-old grandmother in Tucson.
We recommend this place highly. No doubt my mother, aunt and cousins will be staying here when they come visit Tucson.
The Artist's Guest House is a lovely two bedroom bungalow filled with collectibles and original art. There's plenty to look at, but the rooms are spacious and the overall aesthetic is roomy and not overly cluttered. I can't speak of the neighborhood since we spent no real time there, but street parking was easy. Kathleen lives just next door but gave us plenty of space to do our own thing. A quick note about the tub/shower/running water: the place (and plumbing) are old and not high tech or super efficient. If what you want is fast and sleek then you might be better off somewhere else. But if charming and slower paced are just fine by you, then this is a really lovely spot.
Kathleen’s house is absolutely full of old time charm; wooden floors, claw feet bath, rustic furniture etc. And it also has all the modern comfort you desire; efficient air conditioning, a brand new beautiful kitchen, TV, internet. It may be a little dusty in places (desert dust, hard to keep out) but the atmosphere, the deco, everything reminded me of a country house in the south of France. Staying there at the end of our vacations hiking around the canyons of Arizona, we appreciated the shaded calm of the house, listening to the tic-tac of the clock while reading… It’s also close to central Tucson so we walked to bars and restaurants, which was very convenient. The best remains to be said: Kathleen is a wonderful host, very attentive to her guests, still never intrusive. She promptly acted upon a couple of requests we had making us feel like she really wanted us to be happy in her house. And we were. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
I had a wonderful, week long stay at Kathleen's Artist Guest House. The house is well equipped and welcoming! I loved the historic neighborhood, Kathleen was available for any questions, the location is great!
I am looking forward to returning next year!
I was here for eleven days on business and the Artist's Guest House provided by far the most enjoyable stay in the twelve years I've been coming to Tucson. The location in a quiet historic neighborhood has easy access to everything. The house is comfortable and charming with a firm mattress and a well equipped kitchen. I really enjoyed Kathleen's original art work throughout the house. Kathleen made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. She provided wonderful touches like interesting books, art supplies in the studio, coffee, a chocolate bar and other goodies and necessities. I enjoyed relaxing in the backyard in the sun every day and eating out on the back porch. The Artist's Guest House transformed my entire experience of this annual trip. I am so glad to have discovered this gem.
My husband, sister, and sister's boyfriend met in Tucson for Thanksgiving and Kathleen's guest house was the perfect home base. It was very comfortable with all the amenities of a hotel, but with the comfort of being at home. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to cook Thanksgiving dinner for the four of us, as well as several other large meals, with up to 3 of us working in the kitchen at a time.
The location can absolutely not be beat. It was central to all our activities (most of which were spur of the moment): Saguaro NP hike, Senora Desert Museum, dinner at El Charro & movie at El Con Mall. There is also a market and some restaurants that were within walking distance. The neighborhood is very cute, as is the house, which is very nicely decorated with inspiring original art. Will definitely stay again if we make it back that way.
Artist's Guest House is a perfect description. Kathleen's house is the way you wished you lived if you swept away all the unimportant stuff and kept the things that really mattered: a garden, a french press, a sketchpad and some pastels, a giant bathtub, a down comforter... Absolutely charming, lovely place and we really appreciated the apples and other goodies in the kitchen.
Kathleen was a great houseguest: quiet, courteous, and polite. We barely saw her, but are glad we could provide a calm space to recharge amidst the chaos of a family wedding weekend!
