Martine was very informative and helpful. The place was a wonderful location and just as described. I would easily choose to stay there again if returning to Paris.
We (myself, my partner and two friends) had a great time staying at Martine's apartment in St Germain. Martine was a very helpful and accommodating hostess, and provided us with all the information we needed about the apartment and the neighbourhood. She was also able to cope with our arrival very late at night and our unexpected need for an extra night to be added to our stay.
The apartment is in a wonderful location - 5 mins walk from the Tuilleries Gardens and the Louvre, close to the Latin Quarter, etc. The immediate neighbourhood is great - wonderful shops and restaurants to cater both for basic needs for food/groceries/etc and also for specialist foods. You can get everything you can ever need within a few minutes easy walking. And the neighbourhood feels very safe - we were never concerned about wandering around late at night.
The flat is large by Parisian standards - good-sized bedrooms, a big lounge room and compact but adequate kitchen and bathroom. It had all the facilities you would want, and they were all in good working order. The decor is old-fashioned as the photograph shows, and the floor has some interesting hills and valleys. If you are looking for something like a modern hotel room you may not like it, but we found it extremely charming. Beds were comfortable, with pillows the only problem - but maybe this is our problem because in three visits to Paris we have never found a pillow that we liked! Martine's collection of books is also wonderful; it was great to have things to read - in both French and English.
The lift is tiny - definitely one person at a time - if that bothers you. But the apartment is on the third floor and the walk up is not too strenuous, and good for you (only 58 steps!)
If/when we return to Paris we would gladly stay at Martine's apartment again, if she is kind enough to accept us.
We very much enjoyed your Apartment, Martine. The location was perfect and everything about the surroundings, shops, etc., just as you had explained before we arrived. Sonia was very good about being there to let my Daughter in, earlier than I had originally told you. She explained everything to Karyn and all was in place when we arrived just after 3pm. We loved reading your books on the coffee table and especially liked the music which we listened to every evening after long, tiring days.
We contacted Sonia about a Taxi to take us to Gare Nord early in the am and she made the arrangements for us and the cab was waiting for us when we came down.
We absolutely loved our stay at Martine's downtown Paris apartment. Beautiful, comfortable and so very central. Highly recommended!
Martine was very quick to confirm the booking and to reply to any queries. We are pleased that she recommended taking a taxi rather than using the Metro to get from Gare du Nord to the apartment. She provided very useful information about the local shops, restaurants, Metro stations etc. and how to get to the tourist attractions.
Just before our arrival, the entry code to the apartments had been changed and Martine made sure that we were kept up to date with this essential piece of information.
Sonia, the housekeeper was wonderful, explained everything and even arranged a taxi to take us back to the G de N.
In all, I can highly recommend this ideally located apartment for four people.
Martine messaged us from the very beginning and was very attentive to our needs throughout our stay. Her Parisian apartment is very centrally located and is within easy walking distance of most major tourist sites as well as the metro and the RER train to Versailles. She has a fully equipped kitchen should you desire to eat in and there are many places to eat a short walk away. Sonia met us the first night and was there to care for any questions or concerns -- a very kind, thoughtful person who was a pleasure to meet. She also helped us to secure a taxi ride back to the airport at the end of our stay. We had a very nice vacation and would recommend this host!
Charming apartment in superb location and wonderful for sightseeing as you can walk just about everywhere with lovely bars and restaurants on the doorstep but also metro/bus and train stations for trips further away. Housekeeper was very helpful and knowledgeable. Can't wait to return.........
The apartment is charming and the location unsurpassable; two short blocks and a bridge from the Louvre, three blocks from the Musee d'Orsay... what could be better? Oh yes, there is a Monoprix nearby and there is a grocer, a fine bakery, an excellent and very friendly charcuterie next door, not to mention a Michelin-starred restaurant across the street! The kitchen had everything we needed including a dishwasher. The apartment is not "modern" but if you want a good feeling for life in the Left Bank, it is perfect. The décor was very interesting, and the small library a real asset. We were met (on time) by the apartment's charming caretaker, Sonia, who let us in the front door and explained how to use all the appliances.
If you need a "land-line" telephone, just ask. Enjoy!
Celine apartment is great and well located. She was a great host. I totally reccomend her apartment.
