I am a writer. Super itinerant, with a focus on eastern europe, which i love something fierce.
Menachem is a great guy and the apartment it's in a great neighborhood. The subway connection is perfect! We were there for 2 month and at the end was like our home but the first day the apartment was absolutely filthy. We were one hours cleaning out hair and dirt. The apartment needs some maintenance for the price paid but after all, the experience was really nice and Menachem was a really great host and the people of the building is very nice.
Menachem is a wonderful host. He helped us with everything and more :)
The communication with him was great.
The apartment is fully accessorized (specially the kitchen).
It is in great location - nice neighborhood and easy transportation to everywhere.
Menechem did an awesome job of making the stay very easy for my parents and me. His place is a gem.
Menachem's place is a real bargain. It's ideally located near just about every subway line you need, so Manhattan is not more than 10-15 minutes away. The apartment is small (it's a studio, after all) but it has one of the best equipped kitchens I've seen in a place on AirBnB.
Menachem's communication was really good and he responded promptly to our needs/questions (he even put in Wi-Fi for us!).
Location-wise, Livingston St isn't the nicest street in Brooklyn, but if you go just two blocks south, you're in lovely Boerum/Cobble Hill. Smith St is 5 mins away and it has some of the best bars and restaurants in the whole city.
Brooklyn Fare supermarket is one block back - the food is excellent, if pricey. There's also a Trader Joe's on Atlantic.
You're also a brisk 10 minute walk to Brooklyn Heights, one of the most attractive and historic parts of the city, so while the downtown area may not be that interesting, you are a stone's throw from some great places.
GREAT place! PERFECT location to the best of Brooklyn plus the absolute EASIEST routes into the city! M was a great host and so helpful and cooperative! Was a comfortable and clean home away from home and the quietness and security of this apartment combined with the pretty open and spacious area, made it my fave place to stay in NYC yet! Highly recommend!
The apartment is very nice and located in a great area ! We felt at home straight away. Also, you have three metro stations next to the apartment: perfect to get to Manhattan or elsewhere.
The neighborhood is also great: plenty of snacks or places to go eat (smith street) or to shop (fulton street)... And the general spirit is very cool, relax and friendly !
Although we didn't get to meet Menachem, the whole organisation went smoothly! Nothing to complain about ! We are very glad we stayed there for a week ! Thanks again !
The 'interview' process was smooth, quick, and painless. The flat was exactly as he said it would be - there were no 'surprises' and we were very happy to arrive. The neighborhood was just a 5 minute walk to Cobble Hill, which has fantastic shops, bars and restaurants. Furthermore, his tips on places to eat/shop around the area were spot on. The check-in and check-out processes were easy and stress-free. Would definitely rent from Menachem again in the future.
The studio is perfectly positioned a block from a train station, a walk from exciting night life, and is a perfect opportunity to rest while in New York. Menachem is a great host, even as a cyberentity, and we thank him for letting us stay at his place.
The apartment was great, located near every subway line imaginable -- I was there to be in Brooklyn for a professional conference, but was also able to nip over to Midtown Manhattan for dirinks with a friend in just 20 minutes.
Best of all: I was paying less than half what my colleagues were to stay in the Sheraton two blocks away, and they didn't have all the homey amenities I did, like a kitchen (and I could grab a bagel from the corner shop for $1.25 while they were shelling out hotel rates for breakfast).
Speaking of the conference, I should point out it was one of travel editors, and I am a professional travel writer. it is quite literally my job to review hotels and other lodgings for major magazines, guidebooks, and my own websites. I get paid to think about what works and what doesn't when it comes to lodgings. Menachem's apartments, and the (website hidden) experience, truly deserve that solid four-star rating.
More on the apartment: Though the building is on a busy road, the apartment is at the back and quiet enough I could even sleep with the window open without being bothered by noise. It was a fourth-floor walkup, but then again, that's what Brooklyn is all about, and I appreciated the extra little daily dose of cardio.
Menachem was friendly and easygoing and a generous host -- he pointed out the bourbon and whiskey above the sink in the kitchen to which I was welcome, and the glass of quarters I could use for the washer/dryer in the basement.
The only minor drawback: no WiFi -- but that only meant I had to take my head out of the sand and actually pay attention to being back in NYC without the distractions of the Internet, relying on my iPhone to keep up with important emails. (Plus, plenty of cafes and such were around with free WiFi should I have needed it.)
Stayed a week in Menachem´s nice appartement and had a great time. Appartememt is close to metro station that connects to Manhattan and other locations in only a few minutes. Supermarkets, cafés, bars and shopping stores of downtown Brooklyn right around the corner. Menachem has been a top host!!
Nice couple, polite and tidy. Thank you for visit!
Menachen was a great guest, nice and clean, Welcome to stay in any of our apartments again
i wish everyone more guests like Menachem. Polite and nice and does not present any problems and also he left the room as clean as when he arrived. I totaly recommend guests like him.
Haven't communicated with Menachem enough to know him better, but as a guest I can easily recommend him – responsible, clean, tidy and observed house rules.
