My girlfriend, Margot, and I bought an old Adirondack dairy farm in the summer of 2012 with plans to rebuild the dairy and make artisanal cheeses.

We had a lovely time at Sugar House . Don't miss this place.
Alex and Margot are great hosts. This was the second time we stayed with them, this time we brought along our daughter and her husband. It was as terrific as the first! We stayed in both the Guest Suite and Carriage barn for the weekend and had a great time. The meals were outstanding, cheese and homemade bread, fruit and nuts one morning and delicious blueberry pancakes and maple syrup the next. Both accommodations are super cozy and very comfortable, with nice touches such as coffee and tea bar, refrigerator, slippers, and fully outfitted kitchen and gas heating stove in the carriage barn. Alex and Margot walked us through their dairy barn and cheese making operations and you could tell they love what they are doing. Their location is very convenient to Lake Placid and all its related winter activities along with nearby hiking areas and fishing. We hope to come back in the spring or summer to take advantage of the many hiking trails / fishing along with seeing the cows grazing in their fields. Thanks for a great time.
This spot is absolutely idyllic. We came up for a short vacation and had a great little getaway. Alex and Margot were very welcoming, and the Carriage Barn was fantastic! We brought a bunch of board games with us and spent the evenings playing in front of the fire. The farm store is right next door, and we made several wonderful meals out of the things we found. My favorite cheeses were Little Dickens and Dutch Knuckle (the other two we bought were also incredible). The only downside is that the Carriage Barn has a few ceiling beams that were too low for my 6'7" husband, but shouldn't be a problem for most people, and just took some awareness after the first encounters! Even so, we plan to come back in the summer during our next vacation! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Alex and Margot were wonderful hosts. The room was exactly as described - the whole ambiance put is in a deep state of relaxation. The breakfast each morning was divine, and it was so lovely to be so close to the mountains, staying with people who care so much about their craft. Top that off with fresh ground coffee, home made cheeses and breads, warm blankets, reading nooks...I mean, such great value. We'd definitely be back again.
We had a fantastic stay at the Sugar House Creamery Carriage Barn. Alex got back to us quickly about our reservation and our arrival time. It was super cozy. We wanted to move in! It was the perfect amount of space for two people. There were even slippers. The Carriage House is completely private but Alexander and Margot were really friendly and showed us their operation. We wish them good luck with their business! The cheese is delicious (we tried them all).
Staying at the Sugar House for 2 nights was a perfect experience. Alex was an accommodating host and communicated the check-in details before our arrival. After driving hours in blizzard conditions, it was awesome to enter the inviting and cozy surroundings of the Sugar House. My husband especially enjoyed listening to the albums on the record player and the fresh eggs from the store. For our next trip we plan on staying more than 2 nights. Thanks Alex for sharing the Sugar House.
Alex and Margot were AMAZING hosts! Our stay in their Carriage House space was perfection! From the onset, Alex maintained prompt communication with me, answering all of my questions and satisfying my special requests. We were allowed to change the date of our visit, the space we occupied, bring our beloved pet and roam about the farm with Alex and Margot's warm blessings.
My wife and I enjoyed 5 peaceful days at the Sugar House Creamery. The Carriage House was outfitted with a well-equipped kitchen, a warm living/dining space, a record player with a great selection of music, plenty of games and nooks to read or nap in. Our dog enjoyed the space in front of the electric stove. :-)
We drove up to Lake Placid a couple afternoons and managed to explore White Face and the surrounding mountains and quite by accident, we drove through the Saranac Lake Village. Mostly, we found our best moments spent trotting through the snow on the farm or seated in the Carriage House with a cup of cocoa.
Our original stay was for 2 nights and we decided on a whim, to extend the stay to 2 more nights. We plan to visit in the Spring. Alex and Margot are such terrific folks (and not just because we love farmers)!
Thank you for hosting one of the best vacations we've ever had. :-)
Sugar House Farm is a quaint, clean, and unique spot for a getaway! My boyfriend and I were greeted my Margot, who was very welcoming.
Take advantage of the farm's produce. We bought milk and cheese to pair with the groceries we bought prior to driving up and each were delicious! We even bought cheese to bring home.
Finding the farm was very easy and it is a short distance from a gas station/ market/ restaurants/ and white face mountain.
Wifi is reliable.
We had an incredible stay at Sugar House Creamery. It was a beautiful space, warm, cozy and welcoming. We loved listening to records while making dinner! It's the perfect, intimate space for two people, with all the rustic, hipster decorations that come with every city person's back-to-the-land fantasies. It was so fun to tour the creamery and meet all the cows, and the cheese was delicious! Margot and Alex were great hosts, we couldn't have asked for a better weekend!
Simplicity and serenity are the selling points of Sugar House Creamery’s guest suite. If you’re looking for an escape from your usual bustle, booking this BnB is the way to go. Though terms like ‘cozy,’ quaint,’ and ‘cute’ may be a bit overused for dairy farm bed and breakfast reviews, they’re a perfectly appropriate fit here. The suite has a hospitable hominess to it; you’ll likely notice this the moment you set your bags down and settle into the soft chairs beside the record player. When Margot delivers the delicious, beautiful breakfast in the morning, complete with cheese and milk straight from the farm (seriously, it’s like eating the perfect Instagram foodie photo), you’ll feel like your day is already made. Alex is an endearing, conversational host who is happy to show you around the farm. Whether your stay is under the summer sun or during the blistering cold of winter, Sugar House Creamery has a subtle magic that sticks around in any season.
Alexander was a great guest. He was communicative and very friendly, and took great care of my place. I would welcome him back anytime!
