We booked Villa Caviar for 5 nights with Karen a couple of months before our arrival at Bali. However, I received a call from her THE DAY BEFORE our flight that the villa is unavailable. We were given the option of staying at a "very similar" villa in Seminyak. We felt we had no choice but to accept her option because doing so would give us more headache of looking for new accommodations given just hours before our flight to Bali.
The villa Karen put us in is Villa Medori/Villa Caviar. It was lovely and Karen was helpful in helping us locate the villa. However Villa Caviar had 10 persons max while the villa we stayed in is for 6 only. The excess was paid for by Karen.
Key take-away: Confirm and make sure your next booking with Karen is above board. The frustration and anxiety of knowing your paid and booked villa is unavailable a day before the flight is not recommended.
Our villa was beautiful with quaint balinese decor, and also rock and roll influences. Music lovers will love the decor of the villa.
It's spacious, with many spots to chill out and have conversations, be it pool side, or in the living room.
The service was fantastic; housekeeping staff were very friendly and accommodating. You can even ask them to prepare meals for you!
Another great benefit that we appreciated was the driver she engaged for us (at an additional cost). He was reliable and very nice, and having our own driver greatly enhanced our enjoyment of the trip.
I'd recommend anyone to live here during their trip to bali. The location is not bad, and Karen has expertise and knowledge in facilitating a good trip for you through her contacts (like the driver).
Our Villa was gorgeous! Plenty of space, air con was great relief in the bedrooms, pool was spectacular and very generous to leave us some basics (eggs, tea, filtered water, bread, jam, butter and bread) for our stay. Brilliant to have a pickup at the airport when had a late flight.
Any queries we had were addressed promptly by the staff, who all were very sweet. Location is great, quiet, yet close to amenities near seminyak and legion.
Recently returned from a great stay in Villa Rhonda. The villa is spacious and has a lovely pool. The open living area is great and because the villa is located off of the main road it’s quiet. There are plenty of shops and restaurants just steps away and the beach is about a 15/20 min walk. The staff were excellent and ensured our stay was totally stress free. Highly recommend.
What began as a wonderful trip turned into an sheer and utter disaster and I am extremely angry, upset and disappointed both with the accommodation and Mrs. Brown’s behaviour during our stay. After two days, we completely lost internet connection and whilst Mrs. Brown repeatedly assured us that we would have it the next day, it turns out that she knew that it was irreparable. She then offered alternative accommodation which, however, also did not provide internet. After having promised us a full refund for the remaining days, Mrs. Brown then kept delaying her responses to my emails, phone calls and text messages after our departure (as she had done concerning the lack of internet connection) and offering excuses for why she had not contacted Airbnb to issue the refund.
My friend, who is a free lance translator for several large companies in Geneva, lost a very important job contract worth several thousand Swiss francs due to her inability to complete the work on time. We furthermore incurred double the costs for accommodation as we had to check into a hotel for the remaining days and double the flight costs, since we were not able to book the remaining reservations until several days too late, after checking into the hotel.
In the end, we found out that Mrs. Brown not only lied to us about the internet, but also her intention to fully refund the remaining days of our stay. I thus would not recommend booking with her to anyone else in the future.
Despite my disappointing experience with the host however, I would like to commend Airbnb on the manner in which they resolved the issue upon the failure of Mrs. Brown to do so. They were quick to answer my request through the resolution center and to respond to my emails regarding the situation. I will therefore be using the service again as well as recommending it to both family and friends.
Karen actually upgraded us to the castle and we had a fantastic time there. We had some hiccups with the air con which Karen came to our rescued immediately and got it resolved through the weekend. She met all our needs upon request. Definitely a good host. We had a couple of the girls who were working there who were absolutely fantastic in organising cars, massages, prompt clean up every day and addressing every need.
For first timers into Bali prepare yourselves for mosquito's they're everywhere and you will need to stock up with repellants. It can rain pretty heavily. Ultimately this is all part of the Bali experience. I will definitely be going back!!
Everything was perfect. The meeting @ the airport, the comunication and service we got from Katut, the driver for transport to wedding, the massages asked for @ short notice and the quiet street the villa is in. Easy family living in a very nicely appointed villa.
Très agréable séjour dans la villa très spacieuse et très bien entretenue, seul bémol le bruit de la rue la nuit. Un grand merci à l'ensemble du personnel pour leur gentillesse et leur disponibilité et efficacité . Bel endroit comme point de départ pour visiter Bali .
