I am a school teacher.
It was slightly tricky hosting Marie and her group. I have to give her a mixed review. The house was left in good shape, and communication was good in advance of her stay.
She came for a wedding and had all the attendant complications of such an event to juggle. For example, the reservation was originally for eight, but was then reduced to six, and finally to four, but she still wanted to have a dinner party for twelve. Although I don't like to have non-paying guests in the house, I agreed to the changes, and the dinner party in the spirit of support for the marriage event. When Marie's group parked on the lawn, we were alarmed and directed them to the more than adequate parking area we have set for extra cars. Some hours later, three of their cars were still on the lawn, so we asked them a second and then a third time to not park on the lawn. Hours later, three cars were still on the lawn, so we asked a fourth time in a firmer tone that they re-park. Unfortunately, this damaged rapport between host and guest somewhat, but there is not an easy way to communicate with people who ignore repeated polite requests. It was also troublesome to see members of Marie's family chipping golfballs in front of the house's 40 foot long glass wall.
Absolutely wonderful guest. Wonderful lady and it was a pleasure having them stay with us. They will always be welcome back.
Marie and her sister in law are lovely ladies! I hope they return some day. They seemed to be happy with our basket of home made goodies and left the place spic and span.
Oh boy! These two really took the prize. First they washed all the sheets and towels at the end of their stay. Then they folded the towels and remade the beds. Then they left a new tube of gourmet lavender hand cream in its designer box, presumably for future guests to enjoy.
They left a thoughtful note with a few constructive suggestions for making the place even better. I took them, Marie!
You two are welcome anytime!
It was a pleasure to host Marie. Although I did not meet personally with Marie, I am told that my house was well maintained and left tidy. Marie bought me some coffee as a gift from the States which is an unexpected treat. I hope Marie enjoyed my home and Katoomba and would not hesitate to recommend her as a guest.
