Betsy's place was undergoing a big renovation when I stayed with her. I didn't mind b/c it helped me get a cheaper price.
If you like art, this place is an incredible treat. There are a lot of large paintings and woodwork there and everything's gorgeous.
Betsy, Francisco, and the kids are all incredibly warm and welcoming. Even the dog Lola and the kitten Josephina were friendly and fun. Parking is easy around Norris Sq, although the one-way streets around Diamond are a bit of pain to navigate. Overall, I had an absolutely great time despite the mild inconvenience of renovation.
I have an excellent time staying at Betsy's apartment. The room is clean and comfortable. It has a lot of privacy as the AirBnB unit is separated from the main house. You will get to use your own kitchen and bathroom. Betsy is an terrific host, so friendly and helpful. Her dog Lola is a doll. I have spent so much fun time playing with her. I would highly recommend this place.
This was my first airbnb experience, and it was very positive. Betsy was lovely and very easy to deal with. I got to her home, sent her a text message, and she came down and let me in. She gave me a tour of the airbnb apartment, and it was really nice. You basically rent a bedroom and then have a shared bathroom and kitchen. It was very clean, and she even provided a clean towel to use (which was great, because I forgot to pack one!). I would definitely recommend staying here!
A few things to note:
You are renting a bedroom that has a bed, fan, dresser, closest. It's very bare bones. If you are expecting something ornate, then this is not the place for you.
There is no air conditioning, so if you are staying in the summer, be ready for that. Philly is hot in the summer, and pretty much no where has AC.
Betsy was really wonderful. She was helpful, but definitely not overbearing. In fact, since I didn't have any problems, the only time I saw her was when I checked in and and when I checked out. Definitely a host that allows you to be independent, which I loved!
I had a great experience staying with Betsy. Lots of privacy as it was a separate area from the rest of the house. Betsy was flexible enough to let me extend my stay due to unfortunate circumstances. The location is good during the day time but I wouldn't wander around t night. Very close to the train station to get to the city quickly. The only negative is if you're staying in the summer, be prepared to get hot because there's only a ceiling fan and no AC :( -- but other than that -- it was great. Thanks!
It was an excellent experience staying here. Betsy and her family are very warm, welcoming, accommodating and helpful. The rooms are decent and have adequate storage space. Plus you have more privacy as the AirBnb apartment is a separate part of the house. The kitchen and bathroom are clean and well maintained. The neighbourhood is quite safe but I would suggest not venturing out late at night. My stay at Betsy's house was excellent and I was more than satisfied with the apartment.
Great location, close to the train and fishtown, and beautiful artwork throughout house and apartment. Plenty of privacy, most of the time had entire apartment to myself.
Betsy and her family and friends we're very helpful, warm, welcoming and kind. Was even invited to a gallery opening downstairs where I met interesting artists and enjoyed amazing live music.
Thank you Betsy! Looking forward to staying here again next time I'm on Philly.
There was ample privacy, though I felt welcomed to ask any questions of Betsy as a host. Spent a lovely time in her place.
Betsy was responsive and friendly and the location is convenient to public transit.
I plan to stay in the Betsy's house for one week, but I changed my plan because I don't feel really secure to live in the Diamond street, especially when I walk on the road and the sky becomes dark. Anyway, Betsy is a friendly host. When I ordered, the price is $35, but when I leave, it becomes $50. So when I adjust my travel plan, I canceled 4 nights but only get around $100 refund. I have almost the whole second floor and the bathroom is very clean. I hope that Betsy can buy a light also on the bathtub. It was a little dark when I took a shower. Merry Christmas!
I'm happy again! Stayed at Betsy's lovely home and met nice new people! Happy Birthday, Bets!
