It is always important to have a cozy place for a stay during a trip, if you cannot have a good rest, you cannot get the most of the trip. Do you agree? :)
Thank you for a great place to stay, a good opportunity to see the genuine side of Beijing, Zhi and her cousin Chen are very nice and I really enjoyed staying with them
I've spent with Zhi and her cousin Chen a month and it was perfect, like in home :) Girls gave me not only unique experience during the Chinese Spring Festival, occasion to get to know their friends and cousins, possibility to try different tastes of cuisine but also opportunity to interview them to my article about living in Beijing and to hear more then journalist usually expects. Staying in their apartment (or not) is also great occasion to immerse in Chinese culture and tradition during courses in their center YiAsk. Perfect hosts for me!
P.S. Dog and cat are adorable.
Zhi was the perfect host for a first-time visitor - great directions from the airport, lots of good information about traveling around in the city. She helped me find the sites and supplies I needed, and was lovely to chat with.
The apartment I stayed in is a short bus ride from the subway station, was warm during the cold winter days, and always had a supply of fresh water available. Very quiet - a good place to catch up on sleep and plan your next move. Be advised: the bed is *very* firm. Also, very a sweet, white cat in residence (which prefers to be admired from afar).
Zhi is a very a friendly and accommodating host. The apartment is quite funky and in a great location! Be warned though: it is an old apartment without any insulation, so if you are staying here in the winter (as did I), it gets quite chilly. The bedroom stays sufficiently warm, but the rest of the house is effectively without heat. If you're willing to rough it in terms of heat, it's definitely worth it!
Staying with Zhi and her cousin in their apartment was a most pleasant experience. Both of these ladies were extrememly helpful, friendly, and hospitable! They made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Although I took two trips out of the city, nothing in my room was touched while I was gone. Zhi is completely trustworthy and kind. The room was surprisingly cool for summer. All in all I enjoyed my stay in Beijing, and staying in Zhi's apartment brought peace of mind while I was there! I recommend this apartment to anyone who wants a quiet and peaceful stay in a large and busy city.
I had a wonderful stay in this apartment. Zhi and Chen are very nice roommates. Everything clean and tidy. Lovely people in the neighbourhood. I can really recommend this place.
Nice Hosts, Nice room, very silent and clean,...it is just a little far from the center, transportation is an issue in Beijing but Zhi was really helpful all the time!!! Recommendable for those not worried about using public transport in a Big City and willing to experience not only the typical places of Beijing.
couldn't imagine better roommates - easygoing, sociable and fun to be with. i had a great stay!
Zhi and her cousin, Chen, are very sweet, helpful and knowledgeable hosts. Despite going to beijing in -10 degree Celsius cold, the place was very well heated and you could not tell it was that cold whatsoever. They were both very willing to give directions to wherever my friend and i needed to go and that made life a lot easier considering we were both non-chinese speaking.
Whilst the place overall is a great place to stay, there are a few things worth mentioning. As previous travellers have mentioned already, it is a little far from the places you will most likely visit in Beijing. Also, we found the Wifi to be a little slow. Apart from these minor points, I had a really enjoyable stay in Beijing and I don't think it would have happened had I not stayed with Zhi. Both Zhi and Chen greeted us every time with smiles on their faces and that was just awesome!
Our stay at Zhi's apartment was good after an initial issue. The apartment is clean and Zhi and her cousin are very laid back and relaxed. They made us dinner when we arrived, which was nice. We were hoping to get to know them more, but Zhi was very busy and kept to herself, which was fine.
The issue we had on arrival is that the heat, which is controlled by the government, was not turned on until Nov. 11th. This is something we weren't aware of since heat is listed on the amenities. When temperatures get near freezing at night, the apartment can be quite chilly, although Zhi did provide a heated blanket. Once the heat turned on, it was better. Also, it does take quite awhile on public transport to get to the sights (usually an hour door-to-door), but it's not very hard to find your way around and public transport is cheap. Overall though, good stay.
