I live in Sheffield, England, and love the fact that if I turn one way at the end of my road I can walk to the city centre in about 45mins but if I walk the other way for the same amount of time I have the wild freedom of the moors to explore in search of a rewarding beer in a nice country pub. A lovely area for hiking and cycling but with all the advantages a big city has to offer within easy reach.
The unpretentious nature of Sheffield suits me perfectly. Full of down to earth people as it is, I never feel out of place whether going to a football match, the theatre, a spontaneous gig in a bar or having a meal out in a restaurant. I have left my more raucous days of clubbing behind me in preference for more sedate entertainment but always enjoy an evening out with good company.
