I am a born and raised New Yorker and an entrepreneur. I run my business 100% online and I love to travel to live and work in interesting places all around the world. Other than work I absolutely love soccer and play and watch as much as possible.
First some context: I was on my honeymoon during this situation and spent a tremendous amount of time trying to make this guest's stay the best possible when I should have been relaxing with my wife!
The initial problem was due to Airbnb's new cleaning service which I used for the first (and last!) time before Daniele's arrival. They did not do a good job so I sent and paid for my normal cleaning person (who's work all other guests have been happy with) as soon as I was notified of the issue. I know for a fact they do a very good job and am unclear what Daniele means by "superficial". I gave him the opportunity to leave the cleaner a note with any specific things he wanted cleaned but he refused. Additionally I also offered him a full refund if he wanted to stay somewhere else despite that not being part of Airbnb policy.
Finally he ended up staying 5 hours past checkout time, causing my after guest cleaner to be unable to enter the apartment so I lost that appointment, and my wife and I were unable to get in to our home for 2 hours after a 7 hour drive.
Overall this was my first bad experience as an Airbnb host, in the future I will only use the cleaning person I trust so that will not be an issue going forward. You can book with confidence as I have learned from my mistake of using a new cleaner and the place will be in tip top shape for you when you check in!
