Pics are accurate representation of this adorable apartment. Stayed with husband and our 2 kids (8 &6 yrs old). Went out for dinner 2 nights, cooked for sitter and kids one night. Kitchen is bright and ample. Lovely host, sweet and gentle spoken . Georgia was very willing to go out of her way to help us should need arise. Many thanks, Georgia!
Super cute and cozy place. Great location in the Marigny; we loved being so close to St. Roch Market. Georgia was wonderful to deal with. We'll miss this place!
Georgia really has thought of everything with this space. The house is beautiful, clean, and in a wonderful neighborhood. She provided tasty iced coffee and included a lot of nice touches with the house. We loved walking to the nearby market and cake cafe for breakfast and were made to feel most welcome and comfortable for the entire stay. I would ABSOLUTELY stay at Maison Marais again!
Georgia's apartment is very lovely and beautifully decorated! There are so many nice design touches and antique pieces that we really appreciated. My sister and I stayed here and there was more than enough space for the two of us. Four people could comfortable stay here. The kitchen isn't shown in the pictures, but it is very large and has everything you need for cooking. The beds were both extremely comfortable and had very soft linens. The neighbourhood was very conveniently located. We could walk to the French Quarter and there were several good place to eat near by. Georgia was very flexible and accommodating with our check-in. She gave us lots of recommendations.
Thanks for a great stay Georgia!
Georgia took great care to answer our questions, in advance of our visit. Once we arrived, we felt at home right away. The home is extremely clean and tastefully decorated. You can tell she put a lot of heart into her home to make it very cozy and welcoming. She also kindly met us in person, provided helpful advice on the house and neighborhood and provided great recommendations on local foods and transportation options! I would happily stay again when paying New Orleans another visit!
My husband and I have been to New Orleans many times, but this was our first time staying in the Marigny. We loved the neighborhood and the accommodations! Georgia is a wonderful host. She greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour of our place. She provides a lovely olace to stay. I highly recommend!
Georgia was great! She was very welcoming - helping us get set up and settled in and giving us a good lay of the land for our stay. The home was large, comfortable, and well appointed and she had it in great shape for us. There is a new market that just opened around the corner from the house which is perfect for meals and hanging out.
The neighborhood is well situated but a touch longer of a walk than I expected to the French Quarter. Certainly not a big deal, but worth planning around.
Georgia was the most welcoming host I've had yet to experience through airbnb. She let us get in to the apartment when we arrived earlier than we had thought, and it was just as in the pictures. Or even better. It was a true pleasure after some horrible motels along the road, with a warm, clean and what we felt was a true NOLA feeling. We had her radio on with New Orleans music on at all times when we were there. Also, Georgia always made sure we could get in contact with her if we had any questions at all. We also loved the neighborhood, and several of Georgia's recommendations were amazing. We were in walking distance from the French Quarter and Frenchman street (SO much better than Bourbon St). Most parts of the neighborhood has a young and a bit alternative feeling, which was perfect for us.
Wow - even better than pictured! Very clean, spacious and well appointed with comfortable furniture and bedding, hip art and decor, and fully stocked amenities in the kitchen and bath. We wanted for nothing during our stay.
Georgia was friendly & responsive from the start, stayed in touch leading up to our arrival and met us right away when we pulled up. She gave us a quick tour, and clued us in to the grand opening of the St. Roch Market slated for Friday of our stay. What a fantastic addition to the neighborhood, literally right around the corner - perfect for a.m. coffee, or a snack or cocktail. We also took advantage of Brandito's Burritos in the St. Roch Tavern on the corner - so, so good.
Speaking of the neighborhood, we felt perfectly situated. Although close to so much, the experience at the house was very quiet and peaceful - a great place to go back to relax after a long day out in the city. We had neighbors in Maison Marais 1 the whole time, I think, and didn't even realize they were there until our last day! All sorts of fantastic food, drinks and live music are within easy walking distance. We spent most of our time checking out restaurants and music on Frenchmen, the French Quarter, and exploring the Marigny neighborhood.
We rented a car to take a day trip, and Georgia was helpful in recommending the swamp tour in LaPlace, which was a great way to see the bayou. There was always plenty of parking right in front of the house, although we walked to and from Frenchmen and the Quarter each day. Our group of four (two couples in our 30s) felt absolutely safe in the neighborhood day and night.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat - the perfect home away from home.
Georgia was such an incredible and sweet host. She goes out of her way to make sure you have what you need. My only wish was that I stayed at her place longer. It was so tough to leave. You can now walk 15 feet to the St. Roch market, one of the coolest places for food and drinks. Its a perfect neighborhood.
Great guest, very friendly and punctual.
She left the apartment very clean.
It was a real pleasure to have Georgia and Louis at home : charming couple, happy with everything, easy going and respectful. I warmly recommend them. All the best to you , come back anytime: you are welcome !
Delightful stay. Perfectly appointed. Easy access.
Felt very at home. Georgia was the hostess with the mostess!
We stayed here last year, and it was fantastic, easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go, spacious in the house, so convenient, and great price especially when we had to convert from $NZ. Georgia gave us very good advice on what was on, and places we should go that you need local knowledge for.
Would definitely come again, and recommend to anyone I know going to New Orleans.
Have since been watching the series Treme, and it all is so real after being around this area, and the same problems they face, are what we are dealing with in Christchurch, post-earthquake! (from New Zealand)
Georgia is truly hospitable and and an excellent host. I called her on the suggestion of a volunteer from Historic Green, the organization I currently direct and the reason I travel to NOLA. Having never met me, Georgia immediately remembered the volunteer by name and made arrangements to accommodate me on only 2 days' notice. She went so far as to offer me a spot in her own home if she was unable to get Maison Marais ready for me in time.
Incredibly, though it was undergoing renovation at the time, my room at Maison Marias was spotless and perfectly appointed when I arrived.
I cannot say enough good things about this lovely shotgun double. It is comfortable, spacious, wonderfully decorated, reasonably priced, and PERFECTLY located if you are interested in walking to some of the best food and music the city has to offer. Across the street is my very favorite NOLA neighborhood bar, St. Roch Tavern, and mere blocks away is the unbelievably cool Marigny/ Bywater neighborhoods, home to Frenchman Street, Bachannal, and pretty much anything else you would have heard of if you watch Treme.
Do yourself a favor and stay at Georgia's place on your next trip to the Big Easy. Unless you are just dying to stay in the French Quarter, which will cost more and be less interesting, (and which is still within walking distance of Maison Marais), you will be very happy you did!
Georgia is a lovely, generous host and I recommend her and her charming house unreservedly! We had a fantastic time and had a great tour of the city in the bargain. She also provides fantastic recommendations for where to go and what to eat. Can't recommend highly enough.
