The house was perfect, CLEAN and just as described! This is the first place I have stayed, hotel or otherwise where I did not feel the need to use my own sheets and towels.
Georgia was super sweet; very warm and welcoming. I was really impressed that she did the cleaning herself (we arrived just as other guests were leaving). She did a phenomenal job in a short amount of time and still managed to have fancy, organic orange juice waiting for us. (I didn't try it but my sister said it tasted like she was drinking oranges!)
At first glance, the neighborhood seemed sort of sketchy. Turned out to be super quiet and the neighbors were very nice and helpful. The house is really close to the Quarter but... we are from Michigan so we found it far too warm to walk. We rented a car and parked for free in a residential area near the French Market. We spent most of our time in the Quarter but we did have pretty yummy (email hidden) across the street on our last night in town.
I can't say enough about Georgia! It is obvious that she genuinely enjoys what she does. She was very kind and made us feel super comfortable, I joked to my friends that I was staying with my "Aunt Georgia!" Next year, I hope to book both sides of the house and bring some friends.
We had a wonderful stay in NOLA at Georgia's beautiful house! The place was thoughtfully furnished and conveniently located to the French Quarter, Frenchmen Street, and the Marigny-Bywater neighborhood. Georgia stopped by during our visit and offered some helpful recommendations, including the Olde Absinthe House in Pirate Alley and The Country Club's clothing-optional swimming pool (great way to cool down in the sweltering summer heat!). We couldn't have asked for better accommodations or a more hospitable host. Thanks again, Georgia!
It was a real treat staying here. The pictures don't do the apt justice, it's so spacious and well furnished.
Georgia was beyond kind and accommodating, taking time to explain all the local spots and buses to us. The apt is just a short 15 min walk to the French Quarter and the area had some nice spots in the as well (especially the Allways Lounge and Theater). I'd definitely recommend staying here, and I stay here again!
Maison Marais 2 was the perfect place to stay while experiencing true New Orleans living. The home was BEAUTIFUL. Even though we had a little trouble getting into the home, Georgia was prompt upon helping us get in and get our vacation started. She left a number of guidebooks and brochures to help us get around New Orleans. When we return, we'll definitely be staying at Maison Marais 2!
This was my second time in New Orleans as well as my second time staying at Maison Marais.
I love staying there because Georgia is an incredibly attentive host who will take a real interest in you, and will go out of her way to communicate with her guests to make sure they have a great time when visiting the city.
The house itself is amazing, very clean and decorated with great taste. The neighborhood is a little scruffy, in the best possible way, filled with friendly locals who will enjoy having a drink and a chat in the bar across the street from the house.
All in all, Maison Marais is a great listing that I would (and have) recommended to friends without hesitation!
Georgia's home was a wonderful homebase for our New Orleans visit. We became comfortable with the neighborhood quickly and felt safe there. We loved the nearby Who Dat Cafe as our coffee stop on our walk into the French Quarter. The home was very comfortable and clean. The only thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable was if we could have met Georgia in person. Even though she was out of town, she was in touch frequently answering questions and offering suggestions. All around positive experience.
She was accommodating, communicative and very informative
Beautiful place, wonderful host.
The accomodations were fabulous as always! This is my 3rd time to stay with Georgia and it is always a treat. Georgia has become a dear friend over the years and I highly recommend staying at her property for the opportunity to make her acquaintance. She loves New Orleans and has much info and insight to offer to enhance your stay in the Big Easy.
We absolutely loved staying here! The house was spacious, beautifully furnished, and equipped with all the amenities you'd need - It felt like we were staying at a classy boutique hotel! There was no TV - but who needs TV when you're in New Orleans?! - but there was wifi, which came in handy when we were looking up restaurants and directions. The neighborhood is quiet and felt very safe; the house is about 5-10 minutes from Frenchmen Street and about 15-20 minutes walk to the French Quarter - can be a very nice stroll, though it can be rough in the blistering heat - but fret not, the house is also right around the corner from the bus stop. Georgia was a fantastic host! She met us upon check in and check out, and gave us awesome recommendations on places to eat, things to do, and how to get around. We had a really great time and would definitely stay here again!
Great guest, very friendly and punctual.
She left the apartment very clean.
It was a real pleasure to have Georgia and Louis at home : charming couple, happy with everything, easy going and respectful. I warmly recommend them. All the best to you , come back anytime: you are welcome !
We stayed here last year, and it was fantastic, easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go, spacious in the house, so convenient, and great price especially when we had to convert from $NZ. Georgia gave us very good advice on what was on, and places we should go that you need local knowledge for.
Would definitely come again, and recommend to anyone I know going to New Orleans.
Have since been watching the series Treme, and it all is so real after being around this area, and the same problems they face, are what we are dealing with in Christchurch, post-earthquake! (from New Zealand)
Georgia is truly hospitable and and an excellent host. I called her on the suggestion of a volunteer from Historic Green, the organization I currently direct and the reason I travel to NOLA. Having never met me, Georgia immediately remembered the volunteer by name and made arrangements to accommodate me on only 2 days' notice. She went so far as to offer me a spot in her own home if she was unable to get Maison Marais ready for me in time.
Incredibly, though it was undergoing renovation at the time, my room at Maison Marias was spotless and perfectly appointed when I arrived.
I cannot say enough good things about this lovely shotgun double. It is comfortable, spacious, wonderfully decorated, reasonably priced, and PERFECTLY located if you are interested in walking to some of the best food and music the city has to offer. Across the street is my very favorite NOLA neighborhood bar, St. Roch Tavern, and mere blocks away is the unbelievably cool Marigny/ Bywater neighborhoods, home to Frenchman Street, Bachannal, and pretty much anything else you would have heard of if you watch Treme.
Do yourself a favor and stay at Georgia's place on your next trip to the Big Easy. Unless you are just dying to stay in the French Quarter, which will cost more and be less interesting, (and which is still within walking distance of Maison Marais), you will be very happy you did!
Georgia is a lovely, generous host and I recommend her and her charming house unreservedly! We had a fantastic time and had a great tour of the city in the bargain. She also provides fantastic recommendations for where to go and what to eat. Can't recommend highly enough.
