I just returned from a visit with my children in NOLA. We were very happy for the comfortable accommodations. I was very extremely pleased there was coffee and milk so no need to go to the grocery store. Georgia was very helpful in telling us about the local restaurants and things to do. The house was very clean and well decorated. I was very glad that the neighborhood was quiet. I would definitely go back!!!
Georgia was a great host! She made us feel very welcome. She showed us her huge book full of restaurant menus, maps of the area, things to do in New Orleans and more. She then took us for a walk around the house to show us what was around it. It was very helpful. Almost each day, she emailed us events that were going on that day. The house itself was very nice. I would definitely recommend staying at Georgia's place. She is a great lady :)
Georgia has a lovely home she is sharing with the world! She was a gracious host, and if my husband and I go back to NOLA, her place will be the first place I check for availability. You will not be disappointed, trust me. xoxo
We had a great 4 nights in New Orleans thanks to Georgia's amazing hospitality. We arrived after a long day of travelling to have Georgia there waiting for us, that alone is so helpful!
Her place is very nice and clean, full kitchen, comfortable bed in a nice quiet area of town. She personally gave us a sense of where we were in the city pointing out local restaurants, bars, grocery and liquor stores in walking distance.
She also gave us binders of good places to eat and maps of what's what in the French Quarter which is about a 20 min jaunt. Very convenient. She also has a friend Carol a taxi driver, who will pick you up and drop you off any where you need to go. A ride with Carol alone is worth the price of admission to New Orleans!
Next time we visit NO we will look up this place to stay again!
Nice little house that worked out perfect for our needs. Georgia is always in contact to make sure you are taken care of. Loved her recommendation for a taxi driver Mrs. Carol.
New Orleans did not disappoint, nor did Maison Marais 1 or our host Georgia!
Wonderful accommodation well located for walking to Frenchman St., breakfast restaurants, dinner, drinks & music. Georgia will help you out any time you need it and will provide emails with tips on where to go and things to see daily. Nicely appointed home made our home away from home a joy to go back to each evening.
Can't wait to return.
We had a wonderful time in New Orleans! We stayed at Georgia's home for a full week and she had everything we needed. We loved the decor and art throughout the unit. We were comfy and felt safe in the neighborhood. Georgia was very helpful and available throughout our entire stay. We walked to the French Quarter from the home and had no problems. Overall, the neighborhood felt safe and clean. There were a couple of issues that were quickly resolved upon arrival. Parking in front of the house was generally not a problem. While I would come back to New Orleans, I would probably stay in a different area next time. We absolutely loved the Garden District! For future travelers - definitely try the tacos at St.Roch's Tavern on the corner (cash only) and don't miss the Cake Cafe nearby for a great meal and yummy cupcakes! We loved the parades and festivities during St.Patrick's Day!
Although we missed Georgia during our stay, she was readily available via phone and email. The house was well equipped and was within walking distance of all the main attractions. It was a bit of a trek to the French Quarter by foot but was well situated for exploring many of the other neighborhoods in New Orleans like the Marigny and Bywater which have many excellent restaurants, bars and live music venues. If you are looking to experience all the diversity that New Orleans has to offer, this is a great home base. The house itself is very nice and charming, and we loved the handsome chickens two doors down! Note that there are no doors between the rooms, although they are separated by heavy curtains; this is standard for shotgun houses. Prior to arrival, I’d recommend you situate yourself with the cross-streets as certain taxi drivers seemed “unfamiliar” with this street, although it’s not hard to find. Thank you Georgia!
Georgia's house is beautiful and well taken care of. Georgia was a great host and gave good recommendations. The house was well decorated and we felt at home. Location wise it is just a short 10-15 minute walk to the French Quarter or a super quick cab ride. There's also a great cafe called Who Dat Cafe a few blocks with a fantastic breakfast. Will definitely be back, thanks Georgia!
Georgia is a gracious host. Her knowledge of the area and suggestions for food, drink and entertainment were sound and excellent! Maison Marais is quaint with much character. If you're thinking about getting a hotel, I suggest staying here instead. It's reasonably priced, a 15 minute walk to the French Quarter and much to see along the way to keep you entertained.
Great guest, very friendly and punctual.
She left the apartment very clean.
It was a real pleasure to have Georgia and Louis at home : charming couple, happy with everything, easy going and respectful. I warmly recommend them. All the best to you , come back anytime: you are welcome !
We stayed here last year, and it was fantastic, easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go, spacious in the house, so convenient, and great price especially when we had to convert from $NZ. Georgia gave us very good advice on what was on, and places we should go that you need local knowledge for.
Would definitely come again, and recommend to anyone I know going to New Orleans.
Have since been watching the series Treme, and it all is so real after being around this area, and the same problems they face, are what we are dealing with in Christchurch, post-earthquake! (from New Zealand)
Georgia is truly hospitable and and an excellent host. I called her on the suggestion of a volunteer from Historic Green, the organization I currently direct and the reason I travel to NOLA. Having never met me, Georgia immediately remembered the volunteer by name and made arrangements to accommodate me on only 2 days' notice. She went so far as to offer me a spot in her own home if she was unable to get Maison Marais ready for me in time.
Incredibly, though it was undergoing renovation at the time, my room at Maison Marias was spotless and perfectly appointed when I arrived.
I cannot say enough good things about this lovely shotgun double. It is comfortable, spacious, wonderfully decorated, reasonably priced, and PERFECTLY located if you are interested in walking to some of the best food and music the city has to offer. Across the street is my very favorite NOLA neighborhood bar, St. Roch Tavern, and mere blocks away is the unbelievably cool Marigny/ Bywater neighborhoods, home to Frenchman Street, Bachannal, and pretty much anything else you would have heard of if you watch Treme.
Do yourself a favor and stay at Georgia's place on your next trip to the Big Easy. Unless you are just dying to stay in the French Quarter, which will cost more and be less interesting, (and which is still within walking distance of Maison Marais), you will be very happy you did!
Georgia is a lovely, generous host and I recommend her and her charming house unreservedly! We had a fantastic time and had a great tour of the city in the bargain. She also provides fantastic recommendations for where to go and what to eat. Can't recommend highly enough.
