My partner and I live in an 100 year-old house in Downtown Durham with our two pups, Ruby and Chispa. We run an urban farm a few blocks away.

Emily-Kate was a great host; her home was lovely, tastefully decorated, and very clean. Emily and her partner (and their two sweet dogs) were friendly and conversational. They helped me to feel right at home while still allowing me plenty of space. The bed is very comfortable and warm and I loved the farmhouse sink in the bathroom. The house was easy to find and private despite being so close to downtown Durham. I wholeheartedly recommend Sweet Room as the top spot to stay in Durham.
Fantastic place to stay. Emily-Kate and her two dogs made me feel very comfortable. The room was spacious with a good bed and plenty of natural light, and the house really felt like home for the three nights I was there. The location was also ideal - just a half-mile walk to the conference center downtown. Definitely recommended!
Emily- Kate and Laura were fantastic. Easy to talk to, super kind. The room is clean and the bed, oh-so comfortable. Beautiful home. beautiful people. Lots of privacy. They keep pretty busy so you don't feel like you are invading their space when going in and out of the house (which I spent a lot time doing.) This was my first AirBNB experience and I'm glad I did it. Highly recommend. Thanks again Emily-Kate and Laura!
Great spot, was hard to leave......highly recomend
I LOVED my stay here! The house was wonderful, amazingly decorated, cozy, clean. The room is huge, high ceilings etc. and absolutely lovely! Emily-Kate and Laura were fantastic, friendly, let me do my own thing, gave me suggestions on where to go etc. I will stay here every time I'm in Durham. Staying with them has made me consider moving down there!
We had a wonderful time staying with Emily-Kate and Laura. They have a beautiful, well-designed home just blocks from downtown, and they made it very easy for us to come and go during a busy wedding weekend. We even learned some very useful swaddling tips for our fussy new baby! Thanks for a lovely, memorable trip to Durham.
Emily-Kate and Laura are wonderful people, and gracious hosts. I had a last-minute need for a place to stay, and EK responded quickly.
They have a lovely home, with good furnishings. Internet is fast and available. The whole place has a vintage feel with lots of cool modern touches. WARNING: there is no microwave! So guests expecting to make a microwave dinner will have to boil their water instead.
Overall, we had a great time.
There is not one inch of this amazing home that hasn't been thoughtfully purposed and made beautiful. This includes the fantastic micro-farm outside. To say Emily-Kate is an incredibly gracious host wouldn't be enough. If you're coming to Durham, don't bother with a hotel. Ask Emily-Kate if the space is available. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Stayed at this beautiful home when traveling through Durham. It was a wonderful home (super close to downtown) and our hosts were extremely kind and accomodating. If I ever travel to Durham again (which is a super cute city), I would absolutely love to stay here again.
Laura and Emily-Kate couldn't have been more lovely in all ways sharing their immaculate, 100-year old home that they completely renovated, paying special attention to details of that period in time while still allowing for modern amenities. And we absolutely fell in love with Ruby and Chispa! Just a 10-15 minute walk to revitalized downtown Durham, 1 mile to the Durham Bulls ballpark, and short distance to Duke, historic landmarks and fabulous restaurants. We would be honoured to be guests of Laura, Emily-Kate, Ruby and Chispa in the future.
Wonderful guests. Didn't have time to visit more with them, but they left the cabin very tidy. I would welcome them back anytime.
