My sister and I stayed for 7 days at Heather's cute place which turned out to be so convenient to my son and daughter-in-law's home in SE DC that we felt like neighbors. It was also convenient to the metro, buses, eateries and grocery. Heather left detailed notes that helped us with the tv and internet, and even a map directing us to my new granddaughter's place! Fresh flowers were appreciated! Would caution about the lack of railing on first 5 steps down which I found scary and the slippery bathtub (I am a grandmother, you know!) but we scored tons of tomatoes and peppers right out of her garden! Would recommend Heather's place to those who don't feel the need for super sparkly living but enjoy homey comfort. Bring your own coffee maker. We weren't far from the Navy Yard when all hell broke loose, but luckily were not in direct line of fire. Actually, we were eating breakfast at Ted's Bulletin on 8th Street when the emergency happened and staff there quickly locked the doors to keep us safe. My heart goes out to those who were not as lucky. We found so many things to like about DC - can't wait to return! Thank you Heather.
Good location: close to metro and bus stops. We also walked to the Capitol Building once (approx. 40 minutes). Nearby supermarket and a street with many restaurants.
Good organization: finding the place and getting the keys was no problem.
Inside the place: Everything one needs in the kitchen; TV and wireless work well; well suitable for two people; bathroom is relatively small but everything works; two separate bedrooms.
Downsides: one smells the owner's pet quite strongly in the living room. I think this could be made clearer in the description of the place.
Overall: Good place for visiting DC. No problems to be expected.
Heather is a super friendly yet unobtrusive host. Space offers comfy beds and sweetly styled, cozy down time spot. Apartmenttherapy fans will enjoy. Easy access to conference center and all the museums via public transit. Couldn't be more convenient to shop and cook for yourself. Feels like a friend's house - unless your friends are Martha Stewart weirdos. Spotless yet lived in feel. This is not a touristy hotel feeling place, and there are kids going to school and people going to work of various paygrades around. Clawfoot tub might be hard for the weak-kneed person. Parking looked easy but transit was abundant. Stay here to feel like you actually live and work in DC.
Heather was not in Washington when we were there, however she was available by phone and eMail at all times. She ensured that there was detailed written information in the house on arrival which explained all we needed to know. The house was great,so roomy and in such an ideal location, across the road from a supermarket and the Potomac Metro. There were also quite a few good eating spots close by. The neighborhood was quiet and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This home is fantastic! It's in a perfect location, near a wonderful market and the Metro. The house was lovely, comfortable, and we didn't want for a thing. It was great having two bedrooms and the home had lots of character without feeling cluttered. Heather left perfect instructions and went the extra mile in regard to recommendations for out-of-towners. I would stay at this Capitol Hill gem over and over!
We recently stayed at Heather's lovely town home in DC. A truly fabulous first air bnb experience! Heather was prompt to return messages and provide helpful tips about the neighborhood, as well as directions to nearby grocer and the metro station. The home itself was clean, beautifully kept, and comfortable, with all the amenities that we needed....so nice to come back to after long days of sightseeing. We hope to return to DC soon! Would absolutely recommend her to anyone traveling to Washington!
Great house, really close to the metro stop. Comfortable. Would be problematic for someone with a dog allergy, but it was great for us.
Heather and Brian were amazing hosts. Prior to leaving town, they provided my mom and I with detailed information on Washington, including where to shop, what to do, how to get there and even restaurant reviews. Their home is cozy and close to everything and anything you could possibly do in DC. There is even a ZipCar lot two blocks away for individuals interested in driving to Mount Vernon. I highly recommend this home. It truly was an extension of my own. :)
Great guests in my home , welcome back anytime!
Heather & Brian were great guests plus such an awesome dog! Welcome back with pet family anytime in my sunny south Philly spot! Five star :-)
Heather was a great guest. They left the place clean and tidy!
