Anissa and Tanya were exceptional hosts. Despite the fact that Anissa was the initial point of contact and out of town, she was very quick to reply, connect me with her roommate Tanya, and answer any questions that I had. The listing was very accurate. The apartment was very affordable and is as charming as ever with high ceilings, lots of natural light, and beautiful decor. The only downside is that the bedroom lies adjacent to the train tracks, but it honestly was not that disruptive and can the noise can easily be diminished with ear plugs. The neighborhood in is very convenient in being located within walking distance to the subway. The hosts, particularly Tanya in being present during my stay, were wonderful. We shared meals together and had several intellectually stimulating discussions. I definitely recommend this apartment and the hosts for anyone looking for a very affordable, comfortable, and convenient stay in New York.
New York City and Airbnb are both way outside our comfort zone so this trip was a real experiment and eyeopener in many, many ways! The host made us feel very welcome- we were able to communicate several times beforehand which helped. She was very pleasant, agreeable and helpful during the whole stay and gave us instructions on how to use the coffee maker! This was a place to sleep- we were out all day and evening- and it was within walking distance from our son's apartment which was VERY important to us. The listing description was accurate however I didn't notice the bit about the trains running right outside the window until several days before our trip and was concerned that it might be a problem. We brought earplugs and it was fine. From our point of view the neighborhood was on the rough side and our son insisted on escorting us back to the apartment each evening. My husband felt awkward staying in someone's home but I looked at is as part of the adventure of the participating in the "sharing economy" and seeing how other people live.
Tanya was a great host, she was very friendly. The flat is exactly the same as the photo, modern and cosy. The flat is very close to the subway station, which is easy to travel to Manhattan.
However, the down side is the subway is very close to the bedroom window, and with the J line being a 24 hr service, we found it hard to fall asleep/got woken up a lot by trains. Perhaps we should of gotten some ear plugs and that may have helped-but good to know for people who are not used to it. In general, it was a good experience.
It was a very nice stay in Anissa's/Tanya's apartment. The room is smaller then I thought, but it was still enough for us and we could use living room and kitchen for breakfast. We could even use their coffee - it was a perfect constellation for us. It was a bit far away from the locations we wanted to visit, but we stayed for a week there, so we had no rush. The train passing by is really loud, I think this is the only one important thing you have to know before you decide for this apartment. Thank you Tanya.
Small but cute accommodation. Precise and pleasant host.
Anissa's apartment was exactly like the pictures. The room was perfect and Anissa was a gracious host and so nice, too! She called the afternoon we got in town just to make sure that we had gotten into the apartment okay. I would definitely stay with Anissa again at some point in the future.
Anissa was a very friendly and helpful host. The room was small but was well decorated and furnished and we had everything we needed and were very comfortable. Plenty of eating places within easy walk. We would have no hesitation in recommending staying with Anissa.

Ha sido un placer tener a Anissa y su amiga en mi piso. Espero que vuelvan a repetir otra vez, estaré encantada de recibirla de nuevo.
Anissa is a good friend who is always hospitable, and a joy to be around. It's no wonder she's opening her apartment to others. Her apartment is gorgeous--clean, simple, sophisticated--and in a fantastic location. It's located near Woodley Park, Adams Morgan, and Dupont Circle, all of which are fun places to go out for a bite or drink. The apartment is spacious enough for a couple. It's a relaxing spot, with comfy furniture, an adorable kitchen and bathroom, and a large master bedroom. By all means, stay here...or I will!
I've known Anissa for 3 years. We met through friends-of-friends in Washington, D.C. and I knew upon meeting her that this is one of those friends you're lucky to have for a long time. Anissa is quick-witted, enormously kind, and deeply reliable. Often "fun" people can be flaky and "responsible" people dull, but through maturity and humor our Anissa manages to be both a riot AND the person making sure you didn't forget (email hidden). But really, I'm not even to the best part yet.
Her apartment is AMAZING. Good taste meets comfortable functionality in a way that makes the rest of us look like children living in homemade forts. Furniture is carefully picked out to make the most of the ample (especially for DC) space and light. I lived in the building next door for a year and the neighborhood is really special - it's tree lined, quiet DC streets with Dupont and Adams Morgan just blocks away. I walked to the Dupont metro every morning for work, ate amazing food I picked up nearby, and hung with our friends at all the local watering holes. The streets are quiet and peaceful around the building, but city life picks up quickly. In short, a lovely space in a lovely part of the city!
Anissa and i met through mutual friends in D.C. She always concerned for others, offering to bring over soup when friends are sick and thoughtful..she always has her house well-stocked with Orange Pellegrinos that she knows I love.
When you walk into Anissa's apartment, you will think you are staying in a chic boutique hotel. Her home is well-decorated, comfortable, and inviting. She is also a neat-freak and you will find nothing out of place. Her apartment is located on a quiet side street, but a stone's throw away from the action in Adam's Morgan, an area bustling with young people, restaurants, and bars.
I would recommend Anissa's apartment because it 's in a great location, it's has the style of a boutique hotel without the pretension, and you'll feel right at home.
