Silvia's friend saw us into the apartment - there were absolutely no problems. The flat couldn't be more beautifully located, just a short stroll away from the canal and from the city centre and art museums. At the same time it's amazingly quiet and faces a street rarely ventured into by tourists. We loved everything about our stay here and plan to come back soon!
Great apartment!!! Everything there.
Very good place in town.
We loved Sylvia's place! It is big enough to accommodate 3 or 4 people, very clean, and we liked how it was decorated. It's also very conveniently located near the Accademia bridge, but on a quiet street. Check in was easy as Sylvia's friend Anna was there to greet us when we got off the water bus. Highly recommended.
We were Airbnb virgins, as such we are greatly encouraged that despite the present terrible things happening in the world, that there are people willing to let complete strangers stay in their home and be so trusting. So thank you Silvia!
The location is perfect. It is quiet (once the children have finished their football game in the street!) , and yet easy to walk to all attractions. There are many small bars and restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute walk, and useful Vaporreto stops minutes away. The flat itself is well equipped, as if the owner had just stepped out. Some space has been left for clothes etc, and we used the smaller bedroom as a 'dressing'room, there is no real storage or hanging in the main bedroom. We like sleeping with the windows open so we were very grateful for the mosquito net. There is no street noise at night atall. There was also a fan if needed. Much nicer than A/C we think. There is a small library of Art books, as well as many Venice guides/maps etc.
The kitchen was small but fine, even if you wanted to cook a full meal. Cleaning materials etc all provided.
The bathroom was OK. Plenty of hot water in the shower, however I do not get on well with shower curtains.
Our flight in was delayed ( massive thunder storm) so we were much later to meet Anna, the owner's friend, than we had planned. This was not a problem though, a quick phone call and she was there. She helped us w our bags, described how things worked and was very friendly. Check out was similarly easy.
Just a note re transfer from the airport. We used the Blu Alilunga boat. This is very straightforward but takes an hour and three quarters, and the seats too low to see out properly. You are stuck inside with a storm outside and a bit scary. In retrospect we would use the bus and get a vaporetto from P. Roma, a bit more hassly but quicker and cheaper. If I were rich a water taxi would be great.
The apartment is central and convenient in Dorsoduro and we were welcomed and escorted from the vaporetto station to the front door and then up into the apartment.
For a two bedroom apartment (there were three of us staying), it is quite small with limited space for suitcases. It is decorated in an interesting style though we thought it was becoming somewhat cluttered and a bit dusty.
Everything except the washing machine worked and in general we enjoyed our short stay.
We stayed at Silvia's place for four nights, she and Anna made us feel so at home! The room is newly furnished and really comfortable, will definitely be back in the future!
Thank you so much!
Precise directions given to arrive at Desoduro neighborhood. Anna met us there and took us to apt closeby. Very nice bldg with modern elevator. Apt decor warm and inviting with lots of windows. Very relaxing, spacious, almost like home. More lovely than web photos. Quiet neighborhood though close to Venice sites.
We had a bit of a hiccup in terms of timing the arrival and the woman who had been designated to give us the key did not seem cooperative and I had to go through the owner to get that fixed up. Upon arrival we were not shown that in order to access hot water it was not automatic, so we did not notice the sign until we left and so it was not great taking cold showers. In addition, it was a terrible internet connection there. All that being said, the apartment is small, but really quiet and gracious and in a fabulous area. If the owner took care to show her guests these items and to clear up the distinct odour of naphthalene in the apartment - quite overwhelming as we had to lock the windows for the majority of the day while we were out - it could be a great experience. We could not fully endorse it with these provisos.
Customers are always right, but it's better listening to the two different points of view. No one has ever complained of Anna, she is always very friendly and helpful as you can read in my many reviews!
Silvia's description and photos of her apartment were very accurate. It is incredibly convenient for getting everywhere - just a couple of minutes walk to two water bus stops. Despite being in the centre of things, the apartment is on a very quiet side street so night time was very quiet. Restaurants are close by, as is the supermarket. Silvia's instructions for arrival and being met were perfect. My daughter and I had a really wonderful stay on our first trip to Venice. Thank you Silvia.
