Our stay with Alyce was great. The Casita was a small cozy place that was perfect for my wife and I over our 3 day weekend. The bed is a fold out futon and there is also a trundle bed. So you could sleep 4 adults, although you'd probably want to put the trundle away daily. There is no stove, but there's a heating element for one pot meals. Otherwise the kitchen is fairly well outfitted.
The Casita is conveniently located close to downtown, but far from the hubbub. The morning we left there were 6 or so deer eating the grass in the backyard and we saw lots of interesting birds right outside the window.
The Casita is not the most polished place you'll stay. But for the price, it's a great deal to stay close to Bend and save money to spend on your lift ticket or raft rental!
Alyce was great. She was home with her two boys and showed us around. The place was like the listing and was gorgeous. It was a few miles from town, so deer walked in the yard, stars could be seen (before the snow storm came), and we slept very well on the futon.
The woodstove kept us comfy when the snow and ice came. We enjoyed several conversations with Alyce and her boys. Wiley the big dog and Phyllis the terrier were also very welcoming and friendly.
It was about 10 minutes into town. We cooked a lot in the kitchen while there and it was fine.
We will definitely be back. Wish we had left the kayak and bikes and brought the skis... next time.
Alyce made us feel totally welcome and showed us around when we arrived. The space was absolutely beautiful. It was very comfortable for 3 people and had a working fireplace which was great. Totally cozy. She also had very sweet dogs and gave us a great dinner recommendation.
Alyce was a great Hostess and I was welcomed with Aloha to bend and her sweet casita! I had a relaxing two night stay and was thankful for the warmth of the fireplace and alyce's hiking suggestions!!
Alyce's guesthouse was fun and funky. Her friendly dogs were there to welcome us on our arrival. We loved the setting and enjoyed basking in the sun on the back deck before driving back to rainy Portland. Great spot for our quick trip to Bend!
Alyce was a lovely host. She was able to assist us with local things to do and was so nice and welcoming to us and our 2 11 year-old boys. Alyce is an avid outdoors person and I bet she has the inside scoop for anything active guests would like to do in the area. She is the perfect host in that she was available during our stay, outgoing when we talked but definitely let us have our private space as well. Our kids LOVED her pets; two super friendly dogs, 2 super sweet cats and four social (by bird standards) chickens. For my husband and me, getting a chance to sit on the little patio surrounded by flowers, pine trees and that high mountain air was a rare treat. Star gazing is incredible here and the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. I probably wouldn't recommend four people in the Casita during the winter but for summer it was fine since there was so much outdoor space. I recommend the Casita for couples, singles or small families looking for a casual cozy way to enjoy Bend or Mt. Bachelor.
What a delightful spot to begin all of your Bend/Central Oregon adventures! Alyce and her casita (both charming) welcome you with everything you need to spend a relaxing retreat amidst gorgeous blue skies, amazing mountain air, and glorious star displays as night. Located away from the touristy hustle of downtown Bend, it's quiet and peaceful yet close enough in to allow your Bend and Sisters excursions, too. Biking, kayaking, hiking and of course skiing are all at your doorstep, as well. We'll tell our skiing kids all about "Alyce's place"!
HI, Jill! Thanks for such a warm review, and really appreciate the detailed feedback! Loved hosting your adventures and hope to see you and/or your skiing kids soon! :-)
The Bend Casita was a perfect escape, just far enough out of town to enjoy the scenery and relax, but close enough to hop on bikes and head downtown. The Casita is clean and private. Alyce was a welcoming and very accommodating host with a lovely home. She had hiking, biking, and eating tips. The dogs and cats were wonderful company, relaxing in the courtyard sunshine with us! We would definitely stay here again.
Alyce was very welcoming, and gave us great tips about dining and activities around Bend. Its quiet and pleasant. The Casita was great for us, and we enjoyed our stay.
Location was fantastic and room very roomy and clean. We were quiet busy during our stay so we were basicly there to sleep. So peaceful at night. I definitely plan on staying longer next time and making use of the biking and large beautiful park near by. Host was super sweet and available if needed. Can't go wrong staying here.
awesome, no problems. Happy to have anytime!
Alyce was a great guest. Her Family are welcome back at any time.
