I find it ironic to be reviewed negatively by Pierre after considering leaving my first negative review of a stay, then deciding against, giving him the benefit of the doubt. It is surprising that his "flexibility and understanding" seem rather one-sided.
Regarding the mistakenly locked gate, it was frustrating to return late on a cool evening and be locked out, for considerably longer than 4 minutes. Calling Pierre's phone resulted in no answer, just a recording that his voice mailbox was full. He did ultimately respond to a text, but by then we had, after some wait, knocked on the door of his neighbor, who kindly came around to unlock the gate. Conveying our frustration at this seemed reasonable, not at all "rough."
As to the space heater that was left on, I do apologize. The controls were difficult to decipher and this was unintentional.
Also of note, the place is an outbuilding in a small backyard. A dog spends most of the day there, and by the end of second day a minefield of turds had accumulated, with no attempt to clean. It was promptly done after emailing Pierre, but not something I wanted to have to request.
Most likely these glitches were the result of Pierre's absence, and not typical. At the finish, Pierre did supply a key for the gate, and thoughtfully offered a later departure which was very helpful.
