This is a nice large place with enough room for groups. It is definitely an older building and shows its age but is typical of the neighborhood. Zalia was quick to respond to a clogged toilet and the rest of the stay went smoothly. One nice detail was the provided earplugs to help with the noise from the bar downstairs. The best part of the place is that it is only a short walk from all the great bars along Frenchmen Street. Its location is much better than the chain hotels that are far from Frenchmen. I would stay again.
Zalia was a gracious host and let us into the apartment early. Everything was as expected. Recommend strongly.
Zalia was a wonderful host. She was communicative and responsive. She answered any and all questions I had in a timely manner. The place itself was fantastic. It was bigger than the photos depicted and I loved all the windows wrapping around the balcony. It is definitely an older building with creaky wood floors and all; which was exactly what I was looking for. Short walk to frenchmen street. Overall I loved the place and had a blast at the burlesque show downstairs with my friends one night.
Zalia was very helpful and a joy to work with. Our group came from California and had no idea what the area was like. The first day was a bit of a shock, it seemed like a shaddy area...you realize soon though that it pretty typical of the area. We were safe and had no issues! I will say that if you are looking for an apartment that is high-tech and new-age, look elsewhere. The apartment was older, with water damage (hurricane?) and had the basic necessities. Also the beds were really uncomfortable (I slept on the couch because the bed was so hard). We were fine with it, we are a pretty easy-going group. (I would suggest to Zalia though that she has those water damaged areas fixed, if only cosmetically)
Thank you Zalia for a wonderful visit to the AMAZING New Orleans area!
We had a great time at Zalia's place. The pictures online were very accurate to the vibe and cleanliness of the apartment. We were actually surprised how spacious it was! We really enjoyed the patio outside and the bar below, while also feeling safe with all the locks on the front gate. Location was awesome. Only negatives were the hot water didn't work long enough for more than one person to shower comfortably a couple days in a row. Also the front master bedroom had extremely poor internet connection. Other than that the stay was great! Thanks.
Apartment was as expected. Zalia was a great host.
Zalia was very warm and welcoming. We had lots of fun staying in New Orleans. House was comfortable, it has all the makings of an old quaint wooden house. The place is not too far from French Quarter and has lot of places to eat and bars around it. I wouldn't recommend walking in the area, take a cab.
The flat was very spacious with plenty of room for all (including two extra), nice decor and located in a fun part of town a short walk away from Frenchman street. It is also above a nice bar with live music on Sunday night. There were some problems though, one being a large hole in a window pane of one of the balcony doors. The flat was also really quite dirty when we arrived and required a large clean. One bedroom had no working lights, and the kitchen doesn't really have anything in it that would allow you to cook. Good apartment if you are easy-going about those sort of things, I enjoyed it!
This is the way to do New Orleans. Zalia's place is in a really cool neighborhood that's a short cab or walk or bike ride from the French Quarter, but it is removed from the crazy tourist factor. But it's no sleep neighborhood: the apartment is literally above a great bar (a comedy show and a cat acrobat show were going on the weekend we went); across the street is a good Slavic bar with food and music; and the Hi Ho Lounge, with music and lots of local twentysomethings; and a karaoke bar next door. We would definitely stay there again.
Zalia was very flexible with our plans changing to accommodate our check in. The place was great! So much bigger than we expected. The bar down stairs was awesome as well and everyone there was so friendly and helpful. Next time i come down to new orleans, i am going to try to stay here!
