The room was quite allright. Good for one person, a little too small for 2 people with luggage but we managed it for 4 nights and the overall feeling was OK. We had no problems with people around the house, they were very friendly and cool. It was a very good and nice location, near the ocean and close to a rush street with bars (walking distance). 15 minutes (most) by car to almost everything. We can say, it was a good place to stay for us. Thank you very much)
The place was cozy! Rebecca was very sweet and welcoming. I love ocean beach!!
This place is wonderful to stay for a couple a days. It is very close to the beaches and the fun shops and bars that Ocean Beach has to offer. the house and room are very comfortable, and I enjoyed my stay very much.
I had a great experience staying with Rob. San Diego was lovely - ocean beach in particular. The house was clean, conveniently located, and everyone staying there was extremely friendly. Awesome, smooth, and fun first experience with AirBnB.
We were welcomed well. The house is very quiet and the neighborhood is really safe. The green experience was for us a bit too much, particularly the mellow one, but every one in the house was very respectful with others decisions to follow or not the entire environmentally good practices. We slept very well with the fan that Rebecca kindly lent us. The carpet and walls in our room were not as clean as we would have thought they would be, and the 12 feet surf board had to be carried at two to get to the beach which took 15-20 mins by feet. There were three bikes, but only two were functional with one missing the rear brakes. This being said, we've had a fun trip and our plan was not to stay at home so overall we've been satisfied with our experience.
We really enjoyed our stay in OB! Rebecca was super nice and easy going. Close to Newport ( most of the bars and stuff are here) and we would definitely stay again!
I had a great stay at this lovely, laid back abode. The room was plenty big and having a desk was a huge plus. The other people in the home were very interesting and friendly. It's located in a calm neighborhood with easy to find parking, only a few blocks from great restaurants, bars, grocery, and of course the beach!
Rebecca was there to greet us upon our arrival, she explained the house rules very well and was very accommodating and affirmative about the local community and hang outs spots.
Cool household situated in a quiet, peaceful, and safe neighborhood - only a few blocks from the beach (a 5 min. walk). A very mellow and peaceful abode where you can keep your own schedule and do your own thing and feel very comfortable doing so. The landlords, Rob and Rachel, live a vegetarian and eco/environmentally conscious lifestyle - which I personally loved - but, guests are free to eat what they like and just be.
Rachel was my host while I stayed ther and I found her to be very friendly, accessible, and flexible when I had questions or needed something. I stayed in Rachel's room (and she in Rob's - as he was away on travel), and found it to be comfortable and loved having a desk to use in my room. There were plenty of bicycles to use around town, a couple of surfboards for the beach, and a small organic vegetable garden in the backyard for everyone's use.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet Rob, as I was fascinated to learn (on my own), that Rob Greenfield is an American adventurer, environmental activist, and entrepreneur. He apparently is best known for "Off the Grid Across America," a bicycle tour across the USA on a bamboo bicycle to inspire Americans to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
Rob it turns out, is also an inspirational writer and speaker, world traveler, ambassador to One Percent for the Planet, and founder of The Greenfield Group. Check out Rob Greenfield TV on the web. Very inspiring.
I chose to stay at this household primarily because it was 5 minutes from my parents in Pt. Loma, but also for the vegetarian and eco/environmental household. If you're not choosy about amenities, are all about the location (the beach, the beach, the beach!), and enjoy the company of fresh and inspirational 20-something landlords - then this is the place for you!
And what's not to love about Ocean Beach, a true slice of ocean heaven :)
Rob's place is a great choice for anyone looking for a quiet room at an affordable price, while getting the full Ocean Beach experience. The place is quiet, pretty clean, and Rob and his sister Rebecca are great hosts. The room I stayed in came furnished with a ton of closet space and a nice desk.
Rob and Rebecca are very "green" and into conservation, which was a little bit of a change for me at first. However, it was a great experience and I can say that I left as a much more environmentally conscious person. Don't worry, they were in no way "pushy" or "preachy" about their conservation lifestyle.
The real perk of this house is its location. A few blocks west and you are at a very cool little hidden beach, perfect place to watch the sunset. A few blocks south and you are at the breath taking Sunset Cliffs. A few blocks north and you are in downtown OB with access to great food, drinks, beaches, surfing, and people. If you are a walker, runner, wanderer, or people-watcher this place cant be beat.
Overall I give the house and accommodations a B+, and the location an A++++++. Highly recommended.
Rob and his friends rented our place for a weekend. We were not quite ready for their arrival and our place wasn't as tidy as we would have liked, but Rob was very easy going. They were very respectful of our place and left it very clean. I would be happy to host Rob again anytime.
