The stay in the house was great. It looked exactely like it did on the photos and it is really close to the sea. The neighbourhood might be rather touristy in the summertime but was really calm in december. Salome was friendly and offered her help repeatedly and the house was clean. It could be better prepared for a group of 10 people.
However, there have been a few additional costs we did not expect. For example we had to pay 50€ extra because we were over the energy limit that is allowed to use. The reason was the heating. There is also a cleaning fee of 100€ and a out-of-time check in/out fee of 50€, which we both did not have to pay. Normally you also have to pay extra for the snooker room but we did not. Then there is a deposit of 450€.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed our holiday and did not regret the booking!
It was very easy to communicate with Salome and the house was just as nice as it was in website photoes.
I like this apartment -it has everething we need, even coffee machine. We had two set of keys (it is better than one for three persons). Main destinations are not very close, but we had a nice walking by the city instead.
We were initially impressed with the size of the apartment and the fact that it had two bathrooms. However only the upstairs shower and toilet were really useable as the toilet downstairs was too close to the shower wall to be used by an adult. In addition the size of the shower would suit only someone of very small stature. The unstairs bathroom was very useable.
The downstairs bed was not very comfortable though the upstairs ones were fine.
The apartment was located a little out of the centre of Malaga but was easily within walking distance and a bus ran a short distance down the street.
We were not happy with the €50 needed to be paid for "cleaning" as we were also told that we needed to take the garbage down the street to the bin, wash all the dishes and make sure we didn't get any sand in the place as we would be charged extra. We don't believe the amount was warranted given that the carpet downstairs was not clean when we arrived, the fridge was unplugged and the bottom of the toilets could use a scrub. The way we left it would only take a short amount of time to return it to how we found it.
In saying all the above, we still enjoyed being there and received a gracious welcome from Aurilio who provided us with a goodly amount of information.
The listing description was -- for the most part -- accurate, and the apartment and surrounding areas were lovely. I would only note a few inaccuracies: 1) there is no security. The guardhouse was empty during our entire stay, day and night. Anyone can enter and exit freely, on foot or in a car. So parking is essentially security free (on street)...but the area is quiet and safe. 2) There are multiple pools at the property, as listed, but each pool is connected to a section within the community. So if you don't live in the "H" block, for example, you can't use the "H" pool. Some pools actually have coded gates. But who needs five pools anyway? So that's not a big deal either. 4) She also mentioned a nearby area with free beach chairs (we asked in advance)--they are not free, and cost 4 euro per day. They are attached to a restaurant. 5) She listed free beach towels, but when we arrived she said we needed to let her know in advance that we needed them (but she neglected to tell us that when we emailed to ask if they were available)! The TV also did not work well. It cut in and out. WIFI was good. In general, we had A LOT of communication issues. I think if you speak Spanish fluently you may have much better luck. We said we would arrive by 1:00 pm, the place was not available until 4:30 pm. We asked about the towels, but didn't specifically say "we need four". We go not towels. She listed a required security deposit upon arrival, we emailed in advance to say we only do security deposits through Airbnb's policy, and never pay in cash...we explicitly stated that we would not give her any cash other than the cleaning fee and asked whether that was ok. She said that was fine, but when we arrived she demanded the money and complained that "she'd never had this situation before and how could she trust us when she didn't know us??" We showed her printed copies of the email, but she persisted with badgering us. We listed four persons in the system, and emailed in advance to say we were four adults and one small child (she's four), she said fine, but when we arrived she demanded more money for my daughter. I could really go on and on. This was the worst experience we've had so far with airbnb. The place itself was nice--we have no complaints about the property or the facilities. Just loads of complaints about the incredibly rude and downright abusive property manager. The minute we walked in the door, upon arrival, she hit us with demands, accusations and insults. And if you see our profile, we use airbnb regularly and are ALWAYS extremely polite and considerate. We leave properties cleaner than when we arrive. We are your ideal guests. I often get mad at my husband..."why are you cleaning so much...
