Alyson is truly a super star! She's very hospitable and she welcomes any feedback that will make you feel at home. I would stay at her house again and I highly recommend her.
Sweet place to stay. Alyson was great. Check in was easy. Two dogs are so much fun.
Alyson is possibly the worst person I've ever met in my 62 years. Stay away from her place because she could ruin your vacation as she did to mine! I've had had a traumatic experience with this hostess, Alyson, and please let me explain myself. I'm 62 years old, naturalized American citizen of Greek descent permanently residing in Greece for the last thirty years. I'm married and I have a son about the age of Alyson. I'm a university professor teaching economics and finance at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. I'm visiting LA on a business trip and I'll stay here for two weeks. I've traveled extensively throughout the world both for business and pleasure. The first time that I used B&B services on my own was six years ago on a vacation trip to Scotland with my wife and it was a memorable experience. So, when I recently heard about airbnb on CNN I decided to try it again, believing that it would be a guaranteed pleasant experience because it is provided in an organized manner by professionals. You see, I belong to this species who enjoy meeting different people around the world in direct personal contact and not anonymously in a cold hotel environment. After searching among a few available room offerings matching my traveling needs I selected, unfortunately for me, Alyson's place for the first week planning to stay somewhere else in the second week. I chose this hostess because I was fooled by some good reviews from previous guests ignoring the warnings of Daniele, which then I considered a bit of exaggeration. We exchanged some emails discussing the details of my staying in her house and when reached an agreement I informed her that I'll be arriving in LAX on Saturday 1/6/2013. In my last email to her I mentioned that my plane was scheduled to land at 6:19 pm. However, due to unforeseen circumstances the airplane landed at 10:30 pm instead. My detailed trip, which Alison was informed about, was as follows: Athens - Stockholm on 1/6,Stockholm - Newark, arriving at 1:30 pm, and departing at 3:06 Newark - LAX. Total travel time from Athens to LA was two days, of which 22 hours were spent in the aircrafts. There is a paradox in Murphy's Law, which says that "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong". And this law hit upon me very hard: I missed the plane from Newark to LA because it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to reach the checking point for LA, instead of the 1 and 1/2 hours...
I stayed for 10 weeks and I couldn't imagine a lovelier stay! The house was beautiful (especially because I was there during a couple holidays).
Alyson, Gary and Richard are wonderful, nice and open-hearted people, and their animals are adorable. Can't wait to come back!
My stay with Allyson and Gary was wonderful, and it was neat to spent election night with them watching the events on their big screen TV. The house is beautiful, the other airbnb guest was such a sweetheart, and the animals were great to have around. As a cat person myself, if was a nice touch of home to have Charlotte and Lilly snoozing on my bed, though Allyson is so incredibly attentive, I know that if you preferred not to have the cats visiting your room, she would definitely accommodate. I know where I will be trying to book my stay on my next LA visit.
The house is in a great location and the room is incredibly clean. Alyson is one of the sweetest people I have met and she was always checking-in to make sure I was comfortable. I highly recommend this place!
Again - I couldn't be any more pleased with my extended stay with Alyson and Gary. They're super generous hosts, very very welcoming and positive, upbeat people with whom you'll want to sit, have dinner, share stories, etc.
Cannot emphasize enough how appreciative I am that I chose them and their household. They welcomed me, shared their space. Alyson is super attentive when it comes to keeping up the house and she makes it look effortless. Their kitchen and pool were both bonus items as far as I'm concerned - well appointed, fun to use, home-y.
Don't pass up a chance to stay at their house and enjoy their company.
Alyson and Gary are truly great hosts. They are *super* generous, fun to be around, kind, and most of all - *clearly* professionals at renting their space and handling all of the eccentricities and details that go with it and come their way every day. Cannot recommend them enough - I feel lucky to have found them for my LA stay this summer...
I just wanted to say the Alyson and family were very kind and extremely helpful. I am a business traveler and normally stay in private units but due to a last minute cancellation decided to stay with them and felt extremely comfortable with my own space and privacy. House is great and everything you see in the pictures. The dogs/cat are super friendly and very easy to get along from the first time they smell/lick you haha. Highly recommend staying here and just another good review in the many for this property!
No more rave reviews could possibly be needed but I'll add another. Kindness, respect, fun, laughter, friendship, intelligent conversation, love live here in a beautiful, roomy house on a tree-lined street in a fun neighborhood with down the hill access to public transportation and good parking. I loved my stay, only saw Gary in passing but Alyson is an absolute darling with a HUGH gift for hospitality. I hope you get to chat with her father, Richard---just mention Dylan Thomas.
I have known Alyson for almost 20 years and she is a very generous, warm and kind person. She has a gift for making everyone feel comfortable and at home. She also has an incredible sense of humour and can be very entertaining with stories, jokes and banter. Give her the chance and you will be giggling or laughing, feeling uplifted and ready to have a fun-filled day.
