Originally from a small town on the Canada side of the US-Canadian border, I am now living in Ithaca after taking a very circuitous route that included two years in Korea and Japan.
During college at Cornell, I followed a whim to learn Japanese after having a Japanese roommate in a study abroad program in Beijing. This led me to living in Kobe, Japan after graduation and then returning to Ithaca, where I am back at Cornell as a doctoral candidate studying medical anthropology and Japan.
When I'm not teaching or working on my research, I play a lot of classical piano and occasionally perform. I'm also a fan of culinary experimentation, and accumulating more knowledge about wine.
I love being here for the wine shop/restaurant to population ratio, intellectual energy, and of course, lush Ithaca summers.
