This home was built in 1985 by my parents, Ernst and Dorothy Koltzenburg, immigrants from Germany. My father was a musician, my mother a business woman—the first to import gummibears into North America. Although named “Haus Dorle” it is known to all as the Gummi-Bear Chalet.
The current owner of this chalet is Sylvia Koltzenburg, oldest of 3 daughters. A few years ago I became a primary resident of Whistler having put behind my corporate life and home in Seattle. I have spent most of my life facilitating corporate change management worldwide and am now trading my business suits for skis and jeans. This past season I took my ski team on what they are calling "the trip of a lifetime" to ski the Arlberg region in Austria and the Dolomites in Italy.
