Anna initially found some hair in the bed and some "old" oil in the frying pan which she complained by SMS on the evening of their arrival. The hair seemed to have evaded the laundry and drying, while the oil on the pan is a smearing of cooking oil on the cast iron to avoid rusting. Upon leaving Anna informed us by SMS that she and her travelling partner had removed all of the house plants and put them outside as they believed it was "unhealthy" to sleep with plants in the house.
When I arrived at the flat I found garbage left on the coffee table and floors, table runners were crumpled and left in a corner, all the house plants had been left outside on the winter garden carpets with a trail of fresh soil on the rugs and carpets . The kitchen had food remains on the surfaces, unpackaged fish leftovers in the fridge and all the used cutlery and crockery left outside the cupboards, on the counter. The trash was left in the kitchen. A part of the shower curtain rail was left broken on the floor.
House rules state that I do not charge a cleaning fee and we trust people to 'please clean the flat after yourself and leave it the way you expect to find it.'
Anna must have misunderstood the house rules, or have high expectations from others and very low ones from herself.
