We are a kind Japanese family who lived during 5-10 years abroad (Germany / Mexico).
Furthermore, my daughter in law is Hungarian.
So, we are supporting several languages by servicing our apartment:
Japanese, German, English, Spanish and Hungarian.
If you don't want to be in the middle of a very busy area in Tokyo, but still want all the convenience of big city life, this is the place to stay.
The house is in a residential area, not far from Tachikawa station where you can find many nice restaurants and shops, a great park (Showa Kinen koen) with swimming pool and many play areas for children.
Tachikawa is on the Chuo line (with many nice stations along it) and will bring you to Shinjuku in less than 30 minutes.
The house itself is very comfortable and spacious for Japanese standards. We were staying there with 3 children and it was so much better than staying in a hotel or a small one room apartment.
Everything you need is there, washing machine, oven, toaster coffeemaker etc.
We really liked staying there and would recommend it to anyone looking for a an enjoyable stay in Tokyo.
We had an amazing time in Kazue-san's wonderful pad in Tachikawa. It feels like a bit of a walk from the station, but once you get used to it, you can enjoy the walk and the neighborhood. Use Shibasaki-Taikukan station (Tama Monorail) and you will have closer access to public transportation. It is important for us to have kitchen when we stay during travel, since we have a young child. Kazue-san's kitchen was fully equipped and easy to use. More than anything else, we loved the garden!!! We stayed in many vacation rentals in the past - by far her place was the best in the past. Do not overlook Tachikawa area, It is in the heart of wonderful treasure of Western Tokyo. If you don't like the hustle of downtown, this is a great place to be. You can find some beautiful old houses and kura (barn) in her neighborhood. We will definitely come back here!
I loved the quietness and the remote locale of the apartment. It was close enough to the JR line, but away from the city such that I could sleep peacefully when I needed to. Kazue and her daughter were very pleasant and accommodating. This is a place I would definitely consider booking again the next time I travel to Japan!
We had a great time in Japan whilst staying at Kazue's lovely apartment in Tachikawa for two weeks. Kazue and her daughter were very informative and perfect hosts, informing us of all details of the apartment as well as explaining where all the handy shops were in the local area. The train station was just 15 minutes walk away and the train takes you directly to Tokyo on a rapid service which only stops at nominated stations (45 Minutes away). At the start of our holiday, it was easy and inexpensive catching a bus directly from Haneda Airport to the Tachikawa Bus Port, then a taxi to the apartment.
The apartment is relatively spacious in Japanese standards and the recent extension to the Living and Dining space was really handy to have. It was lovely having a great outlook to an authentic Japanese garden too ! The apartment had a really good and clean shower and toilet facilities. In addition, the Miele appliances and kitchen were new and in excellent condition. The one Tatami bedroom weas spacious enough for two futon matresses and we made space in the smaller dining area for another futon. The three futons was more than sufficient for all of us to sleep on comfortably (our kids were 1, 5, and 12 yrs old).
I highly recommend this apartment if you have some time in Japan and just want to soak up the local culture and take in the atmosphere of living in a typical suburbian local neighbourhood rather than staying right in the centre of Tokyo where all you see is concrete and where you don't have much space.
It was a great pleasure meeting Kazue and family. They are wonderful!. They are very respectful and careful regarding house rules, very clean, and tidy too. Absolutely we recommend Kazue as ideal guest.
very nice family
