Unfortunately our experience was not good at all. Murat, although he seemed like a nice person over the phone, his English was not very good.
We had to wait out on the rain waiting for the host to show up, at the end Murat sent his friend to meet us, did not get to meet him. The apt was really a room within a hall that has other units. Our assigned room did not looked like the one on photos. There is a distinct foul smell coming from bathroom pipes, toilet needed to be secured to floor and bed was absolutely terrible, bedsheets had a strong smoke smell. So strong that we barely slept at all.
The one good thing is the location, but there are so many options in this area for the same or just +10$/night that this hassle is just not worth it on your vacation. Our advice: skip it.
30s, professional couple, visiting from USA.
We left after the first night, I must give credit to Murat for at least being reasonably fair to work with us on reimbursement and the continued communication.
The apartment seems to be a built-on floor on top of a house. It all looks a bit selfmade and the ceilings are very low, but if you’re not the tallest, it should be fine. More troubling was the fact that it was not really clean and seemed run down. The bathroom smelled badly and constantly (keep the door closed all the time or you don’t get the smell out of the rooms), tons of old shampoo bottles from previous guests were standing around, a constant puddle of water (I hope it was water) made it impossible to use the toilet without getting your feet wet. Lots of smaller issues with the toilet flush, the shower and other details made our stay quite uncomfortable.
On the good side, the location was perfect and Murat’s communication was friendly and very quick, even when my flight was late.
I booked this flat for 3 nights. Some things was positive, some negative.
+ the size of the flat
+ the location, near Taksim square, shops and pubs
+ good and easy contact with Murat
- the smell of the flat or bath was problematic, i had to open the windows every time.
- different things to the description: the size isnt 70sqm... maybe 45sqm; no hair dryer available; the flat is in the 4th floor not in 2nd.
- shower cabin with no door, shower and toilet was not clean
- Murats friend who gave me the flat carnt speak english
- on the last day the area Beyoglu hadnt water
Nice apt on a quiet street close to Istical. Lovely balcony with morning sun but a bit of a mess at the balcony. Ok bed, functional kitchen and shower with sometimes not so warm water - but ok.
Marat is a very helpful host and we had a great time staying in this apartment (He even arranged for us to move in around 1am at night, thanks for all the help Murat!). Rooms and facilities were in good shape and we didn't have any problems adjusting to the place. The water heater/shower area in the bathroom can be improved but apart from that everything was great.
The apartment is really very sunny, very conveniently located- in a side street near Istiklal Avenue, a stone's throw from Taksim Square. There are everything you need, even the little things: from towels and a hair dryer to small spoons for Turkish tea and a corkscrew. Speed Internet was very useful for studying the upcoming tour routes. Also Murat is perfect host, helping in everything, he even answer our stupid questions and provided for all our needs, thanks again Murat!
The appartment is very centrally located and easy to find in the heart of Taksim, behind Istiklal! It is small but enough for one or two people. Murat wasa great host, very friendly and helpfull, so i just can recommand the Location!!!
It was great location and nice flat to live and rest. When we came to apartment, apartment was dirty we had to wait little bit, it is just only bad thing about the experience.
I do not want misunderstanding about this problem. Ata waited for the apartment to be cleaned little bit time. When he came back to flat, there wasn't dirty and no problem in there.
Murat flat is very clean and equipped with everything you need for a short staying in Istanbul. Murat is a reliable person and very attentive too. The location is the best in the city since you can easily go everywhere from taksim square.
As he mentioned on his bio, I second the thought that Murat is a very fun and above all a reliable person, friend who at the same time suggested me AirBNB for the first time and gave me tips for my first trip over here. One can trust him without any doubts! He'll be a great host
I know Murat really well. He is a funny guy who enjoys every single second of his life. Besides I should mention that he is very honest person. You can trust him about anything. I vouch for him without any question.
