Whidbey Island, WA, USA
Such a fantastic retreat! My stay was far too short as I spent most time exploring the area! The ferry is so easy and affordable and the location is superb.
Missy & John's home is absolutely stunning. We arrived to a bottle of wine and some fresh fruit on the counter. Saw them a few times but we were mostly tucked inside the 100 year old homestead, relaxing next to the woodstove. Lots of activities happening near by - went to Double Bluff dog beach, spent a lot of time wandering around Langley, and visited a few of the 7 wineries on the Island. Wonderful weekend getaway!
We had a lovely time at the Wildeberry cottage. John and Missy were really sweet hosts, even leaving us fruit to snack on and a couple of beers to start our trip off right. The outdoor fire pit was so fun to enjoy in the quiet evening!
This home, host and property were a treasure! A quintessential bnb experience - the best! M&J really take care in offering a warm stay.
I so enjoyed the fresh duck eggs, the bottle of wine and even a chew toy for my dog, (who certainly misses exploring the land!) I barely used the 2nd home, I found the coziness of the bedroom cottage enough. I will remember Wildeberry forever.
Response from John & Missy:
Thank you Kasey & Bandit! We truly enjoyed getting to know you both! So adventurous yet down to earth...we just think the world of you two! Blessings from Whidbey!
Loved our stay at the Wildeberry! Very quaint cottage with an adjoining place to spread out a bit and enjoy a quiet meal. Very quiet property with trails through the woods that were quite serene. John & Missy were excellent hosts and answered our questions about what to do and see around the island. I highly recommend the stay!
My husband and I had a great time on Whidbey Island, and our experience at Wildeberry Farms just added to the Island charm. Missy (email hidden); even though we were a couple hours late and unable to call because I had left her number at home she greeted us at her back door, gave us a tour of the place--including the rich history of the property and buildings, she recommended restaurants and activities, and made herself available for any other questions or concerns.
The cottage was supplied with everything we needed and then some, including a bottle of wine, bowl of fresh fruit and basket of doggy supplies in anticipation of our dog joining us for the weekend. Accommodations in the cottage were intimate, it is a studio style space with the shower and toilet areas set back in small alcoves but not separated from the rest of the room with doors. While not an issue for us, I could imagine if you didn't know your traveling partner quite as well this could be an awkward arrangement.
I never made friends with the bed, though my husband loved how soft and cozy it was! I am typically up several times a night, as it is, and found transferring to the futon in the same room to work well when I couldn't quite get comfortable.
We loved the gas fireplace, which warmed up the space in the chilly evenings and created a soft atmosphere for us to relax in after a day exploring the Island.
The lodge was a great additional space for us to spread out in.
Being right off the main throughway, I was worried that traffic sounds would be disturbing, but to tell you the truth they were not at all. The lush greenery provided a barrier between us and the rest of the world and we took pleasure in the smell of fresh cut grass and the multiple of song birds that visited the surrounding trees. We won the hearts of the goats with grapes, and witnessed the antics of small brown bunnies dashing in and out of the bushes. It was (email hidden) we thoroughly enjoyed!
We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary in Greenbank at Missy & John's cottage and lodge. It was the perfect location on the island to get out and explore, as well as stay in to get some much-needed R&R.
They greeted us with a basket of delicious apples and a lovely bottle of wine, which we paired with some cheese, crackers, and meats from the nearby Greenbank Farms. We had a fantastic evening in front of the wood-burning stove in the lodge, made all the more cozy by the comfy chairs, games, mood lighting and candles throughout.
The cottage is adorable, and had everything we needed. The bed is incredibly comfy, and together with the quiet, we slept like logs. We felt very comfortable and connected to our surroundings.
We are especially thankful that Missy & John opened their place to our two dogs. They had a wonderful time on the island at the nearby off leash areas and sitting by the fireplace in the lodge on the cold evenings. Missy & John even had little doggie biscuits and a few extra supplies on hand just in case we forgot anything. It was a true family vacation for us.
The surroundings are beautiful, and we loved feeding the apple cores to their goats each morning. I would definitely stay again next time we visit the island!
This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The bed was supper comfortable and the property was amazing. The grass trails were great for walking my dog. This is the best place I have ever stayed on Whidbey Island for a very reasonable price. Our stay could not have been better.
Wildberry is our kind of place! Relaxed, easy, a little bit different, 100% memorable. We loved sleeping in the cottage, dining in the studio, sitting in the garden and walking the property; the dogs loved chasing rabbits (should we say this?), and chatting with the very blase goats. The location was perfect: vacation-close to everything, but far enough away to be away; good restaurants and supermarket within 5 minutes; other good restaurants within 15 minutes. It's a big island and there is plenty to see and explore; the towns are fun to wander in. The cottage and the studio are 150m from the owners' residence, clean and comfortable, a little funky (if you don't want that, stay somewhere totally predictable); good wifi; and John and missy are wonderful and generous hosts. So, why only 4 stars? Because it is nice to have a goal!
We stayed for a week at the Wildeberry Cottage and loved it! The cottage was perfect - immaculate, super comfy bed with soft sheets, and an excellent shower with great water pressure and soft towels...much better than anticipated! The cottage is small but not cramped, with plenty of room for us and our young son. We also had the use of the other building, set up as a great room, so we had more space than we needed for sure. The location was perfect, very close to shopping and convenient to explore all of Whibey (we had a car and would recommend one as well unless you are AVID bikers!). Our hosts were lovely! They were super friendly and greeted us when we arrived, and gave us a tour of the property. They made a point to check in with us during our stay without being intrusive, which is a hard balance to achieve. They even arranged for us to meet some locals that we had heard about from a blog, which was incredibly kind of them and definitely above and beyond what we were expecting. Overall we were extremely pleased with our stay and recommend it 100%. You will love it!
John and Missy are the perfect guests!!! They are friendly, polite and extremely clean. At their check-out, the place was spotless and there was a nice present waiting for me. By sure, the kind of guests that make hosting on Airbnb a rewarding experience =)
Very Great people.Polite, neat, careful and committed to the environment. Looking for new experiences far from home. Many felt they left, I felt close and eager to share more things in his brief stay. I think that universal symbiosis that unites people regardless of language or where you live was given. Missy and John was a great pleasure to meet and have had these moments make life more pleasant. The house was also left with the best memories of your stay. The better your life. Long, strong hug. Nestor.
John and Missy were fantastic! I really enjoy the few moments we had to sit and talk and play with the dogs. It was a true pleasure to have them as guests. They really took advantage of being so close to Waipio Valley and also enjoyed the quiet and comfort of the 'Ohana as well. I would love to be able to visit their vacation rental, Wilde Berry Inn and see them again and, of course meet their dogs : ) Thanks you for your stay guys!
Response from John & Missy:
Thanks Kendyll! You two are welcome to stay with us any time. Say hello to Eli and Timber for us! Blessings from our island to yours! Happy New Year! M&J
