I'm a 40-something Harvard admin, musician, and all-around nice guy!
James was away when I stayed at his place, but he gave me very clear, easy-to-follow instructions in advance and was available by phone during my stay if I needed to reach him for anything. He was quick to respond to my questions before my visit, and was also very helpful in arranging overnight parking for me. The guest room is spacious, with a large desk and computer, a futon, and a comfortable bed. I felt very comfortable at his place, and it was very convenient for catching the bus to Harvard Square. It was everything I needed, and I had no problems at all.
James is a great host with a keen interest in playing music.
The room we had in the apartment was fine. Two comfortable queen size beds (one was probably a futon). The room had a computer with wi-fi and was curtained off from the kitchen. It was clean. The shower was great; powerful and hot.
We were made very welcome and James had good knowledge of the area.
James was a wonderful host and works at a local university.
I stayed there with a friend and we all had a common interest in music which is always a good sign.
James has a basement apartment/flat and the guest room is two small double beds - one is probably a futon. The room is curtained off from the kitchen.
Parking was no trouble right outside the building which was in a quiet neighbourhood.
I have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation.
This was my brother and I's first time using airbnb (or any similar service), and we were 100% satisfied with our experience. James was responsive to our inquiries in the days leading up to our stay, and offered a ride from the airport at a lesser rate than the cabs. We were only expecting one bed in the room upon arrival, but were thrilled to see that James converted his futon into a more-than serviceable bed. James was awesome and kind (and, as a Harvard admin, very well informed about the surrounding area); the space was clean and comfortable, with ample signage directing us where we could find anything; and it was incredibly convenient to be so close to public transportation. A great start to what I imagine will be many adventures with airbnb!
The apartment was convenient, quite and clean. James was a great host who provided me with everything I needed. He also gave me some much needed information about the area. I usually do not sleep well when traveling but the place was very relaxing.
I would definitely recommend this place.
James was great. Super accommodating and flexible with my times. Great little neighborhood and room was nice.
My stay went very well at James apartment. James is very personable and worked with me on dropping off my luggage a little early and he was very responsive (I was in a pinch as another AirBnB renter had dropped my reservation on short notice) which was very helpful in that situation. He offers a private room with easy access to the building and the location is great. I got a $15 T (subway and bus) pass that is good for a week and the bus that goes from Harvard Square runs one block from the apartment. If you've ever tried to find a hotel in Boston, you'll know how pricy it can get. I would recommend a stay with James as he is an excellent host.
The “very basics and convenient” are indeed the hallmarks of this place. James was very gracious, helpful, and also flexible with check-out time. He responded to texts in a timely fashion and helped me navigate the bus and subway system. James also offers a ride from Logan for a nominal fee, which was a perk.
I was moving from one housing to another, and my girlfriend and I needed a place to stay for couple nights because there was a little gap between when my old housing terminated and when my new housing began. We had a bunch of boxes and belongings with me that I had nowhere to put, and We had nowhere to spend the night because we tried to search for a room last minute. We thought about booking a motel or hotel, but geez, were they expensive. Hotel prices started from $250 / night and hostels for two of us cost $70 / night. To make things worse, hostels were inconveniently located. So we booked James' room the night before we had to move out of my old housing and were saved by the bell. We were somewhat troublesome because we had too many belongings with us, but he was always patient and helpful and I really appreciate him for that. It was late at night and he even offered to move our stuff! James is a fantastic guy.
James was away when I come into Boston but he gave me great directions to his place. From Harvard its just a short bus ride.
The room is large and the bed is great.Having internet is great too.
Theres is a great Breakfast place just around the corner to go along with all the options at Harvard your not going to go hungry.
James is a warm and friendly man with a comfortable apartment right on the bus line. He's lived in the area for over a decade and knows every great place to eat both near his place and in Cambridge. I've hosted him at my place and have never had a more gracious or agreeable guest.
Jim is a kind, conscientious friend. He is incredibly laid back and is a low key, trouble-free guest who can roll with the punches and is happy anywhere. Jim gets along with everyone he meets. I can highly recommend him to prospective hosts!
