I almost hesitated to put a too glowing reference of Laura's place because I want her place available to me the next time I am in Austin :) The location is great because it is across the street from a major supermarket so you can shop for groceries if you've got a tight budget (I used this to save a lot instead of having breakfasts out) and it's on the side of town closer to the airport, so that means transit from and to the airport is a breeze. But what makes it more special is Laura's special attention to hosting. Laura knew I was in town to work at an event and had recommendations and offered up help with figuring out local geography whenever I needed help. At one point I opened a bottle of ginger ale and it exploded on me and all over the counter, and Laura was so laidback about it happening even though I was so embarrassed and apologetic. I am not sure too many hosts would react the way she did. I felt like I was staying with a friend, which meant a lot to me as I frequently travel alone for work.
Note that this is in East Austin and quite a bit of a way out of downtown. Bus and taxi options are available for getting around into and back out of the city but if you want to travel elsewhere you will need a car. (I don't think people from outside the U.S. will realize this - I'm from another state and I even found that when you get to Texas you begin to realize that distances between things are huge.)
Laura was a lovely hostess, with a beautiful home and two adorable cats (one of the cats was very sweet, although the other was a little grumpy -- but both were quiet and kept pretty much to themselves). Everything was very clean, the room we stayed was really nice, we had our own bathroom, and breakfast was provided. There was plenty of street parking and the walk downtown was relatively short (less than 20 minutes I think?). I'd definitely stay there again!
The location was wonderful. Close to groceries, bars and restaurants. The house itself was very nicely decorated and furnished. A beautiful kitchen with granite counter tops and nice appliances. It was very clean and the neighborhood was safe. The bed was very comfortable and having control of the temperature was great.
Laura was exceedingly helpful and gave me suggestions on the best restaurants, bars and shopping areas. Thanks Laura!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wishes to explore Austin.
This was my first time going b and b abroad and I found it to be a most enjoyable experience. Laura was so accommodating with her home and was so trustworthy. She was also so helpful with any queries I had or information I needed. She certainly helped to make my stay in Austin more enjoyable then any hotel. I intend to go to Austin again and will certainly stay with Laura.
Lara was just a fantastic host to us! She really went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and ensure we enjoyed all that Austin had to offer. When we arrived she had taken the time to find local papers who reviewed the ACL festival since she knew we were in town for that event. She offered us ponchos as it was raining when we arrived, and even had us use her festival blanket too! She was just so generous in opening up her home, and really welcomed us like we were old friends. We simply cannot say enough good things about our experience in Austin! The bed was so comfy and the room is spacious and inviting. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Austin - stay with Laura! :)
While I didn't actually get to meet Laura in person, she was very helpful ahead of time and made sure that her boyfriend was there to meet us when we arrived. The entire process was really smooth, and close to 6th St which is just what we wanted. It was really comfortable, too.
I was in Austin for a week for work and decided on Laura's place because it was near my work and because I thought that Laura and I would get along based on her house rules (especially rule number one and number 5).
Laura and the ouse were fantastic - I felt completely welcome and right at home. Her house is quiet and peaceful and it was easy for me to focus on work.
Laura let me do me and I never felt like I was intruding on her space.
She is an awesome host and I would love to stay with her again.
Choose this one, you won't regret it!
Laura was very cool, nice personality. I like her cats, I would recommand people to stay at Laura's.
I was in Austin for a reception and to enjoy the holiday weekend spending time with friends. Laura's place was close to the places I visited and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay there again!
You really can't ask for anything much better than to stay with Laura. Her place is in a great location if you want to be near all kinds of Austin events, but off the beaten path enough to enjoy a little solitude. Laura is also an excellent host. She rents a comfortable room and bath, makes excellent coffee, and has all kinds of great suggestions about where to go and what to do. Overall, you can't beat the price and the quality of hospitality. Thank you Laura!
Laura and her traveling partner were excellent guests this weekend. They left my apartment clean and in great shape. I would be happy to host them again and would gladly recommend them to other hosts.
It was a pleasure hosting Laura. I would love to host her again.
Laura and her husband were very nice. They were respectful of the home, quiet and tidy. Happy to have them again and recommend them to any hosts. I would also request them as hosts the next time we visit Austin.
She and her boyfriend were great guests! I would definitely host them again and recommend them to others!

Laura was easy to take care of! No trouble at all and left the condo clean! I would recommend her as a guest and host her anytime! :-)
