What a great experience staying at Dorie's place! Not only was the home comfortable and clean, Dorie checked with us beforehand to accommodate our preferences and she checked in with us during the stay. Having a front and back sun porch is fabulous. The neighborhood is quiet and walkable.
To top it off, we had access to her yoga studio on a sunny Saturday morning!
We felt very much at home here and even our teen daughters were thrilled which sometimes isn't the easiest thing to pull off.
Traveled to Chicago for the first time with 3 friends. We loved our time in Chicago and we really enjoyed our stay at Dorie's lovely and spacious apartment!
For starters it's big! There are two bedrooms, two sitting rooms both with tables, a comfy living room and a yoga studio (with all necessary accessories)! There's also a very cute balcony with access to the roof which provides views of the city.
Dorie's place has a fantastic positive vibe/energy within. There are lots of plants, ample sunlight, unique furniture and we particularly enjoyed the decor which included an abundance of owls and beautiful colors. There are two bedrooms as stated: a queen bed in one room and a futon that converts into a twin in the other room. The living room couch is also very comfy! Also take note there is no TV, which we enjoyed! It's too easy to get distracted by TV, we instead made use of the board games and shared lots of laughs in the process!
Dorie is a yoga instructor and this shows with her impressive book collection throughout the house. I too am a yogi, so I definitely appreciated this in addition to the yoga decor. The kitchen is also large, lots of counter space and all the utensils you would need.
Great location! Her place is located in Andersonville and we fell in love with the area. There are all kinds of restaurants and shops nearby on Clark St. The place is also right next to the Asian/China town, filled with lots of good food as well! We also felt very safe here which was important given none of us were familiar with the Chicago area. The red line Argyle train stop is also just 2-3 blocks away, which made our travels very convenient. Took about 30mins to get as far south as Millennium park. We also caught a show at the Aragon Ballroom which was a 10-15 walk from Dorie's place.
Dorie is very kind and she checked in with us via text and email a few times during our stay (even though she was away in Costa Rica!). She made us feel very welcomed and cared for, even from afar.
I would definitely recommend staying here. It was a great home base for us and although it is not "centrally located", it is so close to transit lines, you won't have a problem getting anywhere. Thank you Dorie for sharing your home with us!
Great stay, great location! Perfect fit for our family visit in Andersonville.
What a great experience! Dorie was a wonderful host, the apartment was gorgeous and very clean, and Gracie the dog became my new best friend. Would definitely stay here again.
Dorie was a great guest, very respectful of our property. We had good communication and I'm happy that we were able to accommodate her. We would enjoy having her a a guest again. Deanne
I've known Dorie for many years now as my yoga teacher and friend. Dorie lives her yoga practice. She is kind, joyful, curious, and a great lover of life. Her home is beautiful. It's sunny, up in the tree's, on a great street in a great neighborhood. It's an easy walk to everything Andersonville has to offer (which is a lot). Andersonville is a great neighborhood to stay in. It's vibrant with many options for eating, shopping, etc. It has a real community spirit. It's not far from the lake, and an easy commute downtown by both public transportation, bike, or car. I highly recommend renting from Dorie.
