Vas caminando a todas partes.
Juan Carlos and Marta were great hosts! Marta left our family a continental breakfast. The building is in the Old City and is spectacular. The entrance door opens into a mail box area for all of the apartments/condos. Sometimes the Spanish locks need to be turned multiple times until they unlock. This one is no exception. I am grateful I learned this in previously in Madrid. They are different than locks in the United States. Then it opens into an open main courtyard. The apartment is on the main floor to the left of the nicely landscaped courtyard. The inside of the apartment is done in a modern/ industrial loft style, but still retaining much of the old. Within minutes the rooms were divided up before we know what happened. The girls took the upper loft. The boys took the lower loft with the pool table. Mom and Dad were left with the two twin beds on the main level. There was ample room for our family of 6. All of the beds were extremely comfortable.
The kitchen consisted of a cook top, microwave, refrigerator, several cook ware and utensils, and a toaster. We did not use the kitchen except to make hot chocolate on the cook top.
The bathroom is nicely designed with an apartment sized washer and towel dryer. The water heater is larger than most apartment sized water heaters I have seen and was able to accommodate consecutive showers. We usually divide the showers up with 3 at night and 3 in the morning. Everyone had hot water.
The Wi Fi was essential for us to plan our next days events- especially since our Vodofone internet stopped working after day 2.
Driving a mini van through Toledo's Old City one way narrow streets did prove to be challenging. Thanks to Marta and her expert navigating we left with all side mirrors. We would recommend parking in the parking deck outside of the Old City and letting your car sit until you have explored what the old city has to offer. There is a cantilevered escalator which allows you to see fantastic views regardless of the weather without carrying your luggage. The entrance was in back of the Municipal Court Building located behind the apartment and is marked with the sign remonte mecánico. I think it operated between the hours of 8am and 10pm. You can ride it down to and it exits near the City of Toledo's underground parking lot on Paseo de Recaredo . Two days parking cost us 36 euros. We were able to walk to everything and did not even move the car.
Do make sure you wear comfortable non-slip shoes. We made the comment we wondered what it would be like to walk on the smooth paving rock roads in the rain. The next day we found out. Plan on spending at least 3-4 days here. There was a lot left undone.
Juan Carlos is an awesome host. He picked us up from the train station and once at the apartment showed us how things worked and where they were. The unit itself is unbelievable unique in a great town. I would recommend this place.
The house is very beautiful. We are very happy to have booked and stayed in this place. It is a unique experience staying in such a nice place. Highly recommend.
We had an amazing stay in Toledo thanks to Juan Carlos and Marta! They kept constant communication beforehand and met us upon arrival to show us around. We were immediately impressed with the location of the house and loved that we could walk to all the main attractions. We definitely recommend this place!
My wife and I stayed in Toledo for one night. The apartment and hosts were fantastic. The apartment is in a great location and in a building with lots of old-world charm. The host provide cafe and a light breakfast, which we very much appreciated. The building is actually easy to find, but we got a little lost driving in the old city. We arrive much later than planned because of our driving errors and do to technical glitches with our phones could not message the host. Still, once we arrived the host was waiting with a smile and was vary helpful getting us set up in the apartment and making suggestions where to eat.
A driving note: If you are not familiar with Toledo and these style streets (as I was not), please recognize that the streets are vary narrow and shared by pedestrians. Hence, I drove past the turns Juan Carlos instructed me to make because I did not realize that a passed a street. Road signs are small but once you figure out the where you can drive, it is actually just 3 turns to get into the old city and find the building.
