Before the trip, Rosemary kept in constant contact with lightning fast responses. She provided us a mountain of information about everything starting from Marco Polo Airport to her doorstep. She also keep us sharp on a recent policy change that took effect during booking. The map and instructions to her home we extremely easy to use... even at 1 a.m. AND being our first rip to Venice.
During our stay, she provided us treats and everything we needed. The stay was warm, clean and cozy. She checked in on us periodically, even during her busiest weekend, with expert knowledge and colorful memories and suggestions. Her home is within walking distance of everything you will need. Her home is located in a very quiet area and very secure. If you engage her with any issue, she will take care of it. I highly recommend staying with her, as we will in the near future.
Rosemary's place is amazing. So cute and very vintage definitely get the feel your in an old Venetian home. Very comfortable Rosemary is very helpful and great directions. Has two adorable cats. Location is amazing right near the center of everything 5 min walk from San Marco square and right next to the water taxi to get you to and from the train station. Would definitely stay with her again!
Friendly, welcoming apartment perfectly located. Ideal if you are flying in, as there is a direct boat to/from the airport, ideal for the major sites in Venice, yet off the beaten track. Lots of great restaurants and shops on your doorstep. Communicative host, helpful in every way.
The downside which the website does not show is that there are linoleum floors in the bedrooms. The place could do with some love, as there are items in need of maintenance, e.g. parts of the living room floor coming loose, a shutter missing, alongside other small details. It is described as 120sq m, but that probably includes a long unused (unusable) corridor in parallel to the living room.
This place is great! Although Rosemary was out of town during our stay, and we never got to meet her personally, she was very thorough and accommodating, making sure that we had all the information we needed to locate and access the apartment. The apartment is located in a really beautiful, quiet neighborhood not far from main attractions like San Marco and the Arsenale. Accessibility was never an issue. Also, the apartment itself is beautifully decorated and extremely cozy. My brother and I looked forward to returning home every night and crawling into our beds (they were absurdly comfortable - no hyperbole). All in all, I would highly recommend this listing.
Rosemary has a lovely house in a great area. It is off the beaten track and a really easy walk to the vaporetto. Rosemary is an easy person to communicate with, and was helpful while still getting on with her own life. There are very friendly cats that are happy to hang out with you. While the bathroom is described as small, we found it well laid out and very adequate.
Oohhhh, Venice. It´s a good thing you are so truly beautiful. My review is tainted with a bit of bad luck as when I arrived to Venice a strike was in effect for 24 hours. I learned the only way I could get to Rosemary´s house was by either paying for a 70 euro water taxi or by walking. So I walked it, thinking how hard can this be - it´s an island? I had 2 heavy bags.... over 8 bridges... and tons of questions about which way to go, Venice is very confusing upon your first experience - the street names are marked vaguely for the most part (and the map you purchase for 2.50 euro has the smallest print, truly you will need a magnifying glass). Missed the plans I had hoped to do that night and was exhausted from the effort that night & thru the next day as well. Lesson learned - pay for the taxi (IF there is a strike, apparently it´s extremely rare) Otherwise, the boat buses are very convenient and worth it as they are also kind of fun. Sit outside if the weather is nice.
Rosemary made it right!! She was very communicative thru my arrival and had someone there to meet me when I arrived and helped me up the last set of stairs. It´s Venice, lesson 2, pack light. I was shown to my room and given the once thru the house by a very friendly & kind woman.
My room was exactly as pictured, clean and cozy. The house was full because of the strike, but I enjoyed the company. It´s always interesting to chat with other travelors. The following night I was upgraded to a room upstairs and was able to have a hot bath in a lovely large tub. Rosemary made sure I knew which way to go and get around, and provided a better map. Directions to the local supermarket were priceless. Everything is very expensive in Venice, eat in as much as possible. Both kitchens upstairs and downstairs were clean and well kept, stocked with milk, coffee, tea available 24hrs and all the items you need to make a meal (pots, pans etc.)
My stay in Venice was much too short, so Rosemary´s directions were great when I was in a hurry. By day 3, I had figured out the best way to navigate and it was time to leave, a week stay is best (lesson 3). I would definitely stay with Rosemary again, she was so lovely & helpful seeing me to the water bus (to the airport) the morning I left (8-10 min walk). I was able to conveniently purchase my ticket on-board, 50 min ride to the airport, 10 min walk to the airport from boat dock.
Beautiful home, lovely hostess - highly recommended!
Rosemary is a very nice person and a kind host. We enjoyed our stay in Venice although it was pretty cold inside the house and specialy during the night. Rosemary's house is located in a very convenient place and is very old therefor the level of humidity is high inside the room (like many places in Venice).
The bathroom is not our favourite.
We loved the neighborhood - away from the crowds but lively and busy with Venitians and some tourists coming and going from the Fondamente Nuove and Ospedale vaporetto stops. Zanipolo Church and the Hospital are architectural beauties right down the street, as well as the statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni and several restaurants. Rosemary helped us get our bearings when we arrived, which was a bit complicated because we arrived after dark and had some trouble negotiating the small streets in her neighborhood. She also advised us about restaurants, wine, walking vs vaporetto and helped with basics in her wonderful house and garden.
Location was very good, in a quiet, safe area, within easy walking distance of Ospedale vaporetto stop, and walking distance of Rialto and other major sites. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a tiny shower room. Rosemary and her cats were there to welcome me. She was an invaluable source of local information.
Thanks for the desk suggestion. You had but to ask!
Hope you got back fine and I look forward to the possibility of hosting you another time
All best wishes
