This graciously appointed character home was recently our family home for 10 days. It offered everything and more that we might need to make our stay in Victoria so memorable; spacious rooms, lots of amenities, a gourmet kitchen and a gentle peaceful neighbourhood that is a 10 minute drive to downtown Victoria. Neighbourhood walks and trails abound, the sights are everywhere and the ocean beckons a short 5 minute walk away. Josie and James are inviting, caring and helpful hosts who go the full distance to help you feel comfortable and welcome.
We highly recommend this accommodation.
We had a fantastic stay at Josie's Oak Bay home. It was ideal for a family with small children, uncluttered and easy to feel at home in. My 3-year old absolutely loved using the trampoline in the yard (and the lovely winter weather in Victoria made this possible!). The kitchen is well appointed and easy to prepare meals. Would certainly stay here again - thanks Josie for your hospitality!
The deGreefs' house is located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Within a five minutes walk you can reach the sea or Oak Bay Avenue with its nice stores, within a 25-30 min busride you get to UVIC. The house is very comfortable and beautiful. The two rentable rooms are located in the basement. They are both small, but include lovely furniture. As a typical problem of rooms in the basement, plants in front of the window or a roof prohibit the sun to enter the rooms. Furthermore, the walls are not that soundproof, which makes it hard to concentrate and also relax if one is sensetive towards noise. For a short stay I definitely can recommend the renting of one of the rooms, but in my opinion not for a longer stay. I stayed for 4 month.
We had a wonderful time at the DeGreef's home. Josie made great recommendations for dining, recreation and activities. The home is a gorgeous craftsman style home with a kitchen to die for. There were many places to sit and enjoy the wonderful weather and scenery of Victoria. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Charming house, charming hosts, idyllic neighbourhood. The basement room is small, but comfortable; there are cooking facilities right outside the room, but Josie makes the main kitchen available, if wanted. Free laundry self-service. The nearest bus stop to downtown is less than 5 minutes away; the ride takes less than 20. All in all, ideal for a single staying for a few days or longer.
Myself and family stayed in the Degreef's awesome home for a week in July and were delighted by their welcoming service and beautiful home which was large (easily accommodated 6 of us), modern (while still keeping it's splendid heritage character) and very comfortable). The great shops of Oak Bay were in easy walking distance and provided all the morning coffee required for a busy day of holidaying! Thank you so much, Josie and James, for the memorable stay. In the future for family accommodation I wouldn't hesitate in booking the Defreef's in a heartbeat, five stars all round!!!
Fantastic house! Josie's large, lovely home was the perfect place for my family to accommodate during our time in Victoria. The best part of our stay was the big kitchen and fabulous farmhouse table where we could all sit together chatting at the end of the day. Josie was a great host - she took the time to introduce the house to us and was very responsive to our inquiries. Highly recommended!
Josie and James made me feel at home in their beautiful home. They were friendly and welcoming, yet I felt like my space was my own. I would absolutely stay again, if I'm lucky enough to end up in Victoria.
Josie and family welcomed me into their beautiful home on fairly short notice. I stayed for several days while taking a course but I wish it could have been longer! The DeGreef's are very kind, clean, and courteous. Oak Bay is a neat part of Victoria with a beautiful marina and several beaches within 20-30 min walk. I highly suggest staying in this lovely home. Thank you Josie and co. for hosting me, I wish we had more time to spend together!! I hope to see you in Tahoe sometime!
Josie and James were perfect airbnb guests: they were kind, considerate, tidy, and engaged in conversation with the other guests. Highly recommend them!
We have stayed at the DeGreef's house twice, once for one week and once for two weeks, with our two small children. The house is located within walking distance of a beach, park, restaurants, cafe, grocery store, etc etc and a short drive from downtown and other amenities. It's on a quiet, sunny, leafy street in one of Victoria's best neighborhoods. From a location perspective, we couldn't have asked for a better place and visitors to Victoria would be hard pressed to find a better "home base" in the city.
The house itself is beautiful, very spacious, with an amazing kitchen - large, bright, and equipped with high quality modern stove, fridge etc. The house is beautifully appointed, hardwood floors, nice furniture, etc. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
For a short term rental, we would highly recommend this house, without reservation.
My family and I have known Josie and her family for over 15 yrs. She has a family-friendly, very large house in south Oak Bay, one of the best residential neighborhoods in Victoria. Her house is simply amazing. Having recently completed an extensive renovation, the house features great open spaces and all the modern amenities and comforts while maintaining the charm and integrity of the original design.
