Sara was a great host, she was very easy to be in touch with and made our stay very comfortable. It's a great apartment in a great location. I highly recommend it!
Sara briefly met up with me upon arrival to introduce me to the apartment, and to let me know where everything could be found. She also kindly allowed me to check-out a few hours later than usual.
The apartment in question is in a fantastic location (central but quiet and private), and I must add that the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I'd ever slept on. Most of the key amenities were provided, including bathroom supplies like soap and shampoo. The bathroom is just outside the main door, and the shared nature did not seem to be a problem (only once was it occupied by someone else). The shower is excellent.
As others have mentioned, the coffee machine is very convenient. The room gets a lot of light, and this is both a good thing and also a nuisance. Even in August, I found it quite light in the early morning, and unfortunately, the two small windows above the bed do not have curtains. I would suggest for the host to have some curtains installed.
Also, I mention two things: (i) there is no microwave, but there is an oven; (ii) the stairs up to the 'loft' can be a bit troublesome for someone with disabilities or movement problems.
Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I would not hesitate to reach out to Sara again for another visit to Iceland.
What a wonderful rental experience! First off, Sara is an incredibly friendly and professional host. She promptly responded to all questions and messages and was extremely generous with her time. I am not surprised at all that AirBnB ranks her as a "Superhost." She is a super human being! Second, the apartment itself is stunning. It has a great loft/penthouse layout, with a great balcony that gives you panoramic views of Reykjavik and the mountains. There is a small, full kitchen that had everything we needed to prepare light meals. As a first-time visitor, I cannot think of a better location to have as a home base. The property is located on a peaceful residential street that is one block (1 minute) walk into the main square and restaurants, coffee shops, bars, grocery stores, etc. I just loved that contrast and proximity. The main shopping street (Laugavegur) and the beautiful church (Hallgrímskirkja) are only a short walk further. If you rent a car, there is free street parking about a 5-minute walk from the apartment if you know where to look. The WiFi Internet was strong and steady, which was important for my wife since she had to take care of some business on our trip. The shower is unique, as some reviewers noted, but it did not diminish our experience. The shower head is located lower than you may be used to due to the sloping roof of the apartment (I am 5'-9" and the stream landed on my neck). It is a detachable, hand-held head shower head so it is easy to wash your hair if you take it off or just duck your head. I would only see this configuration as an inconvenience for very tall people. And yes, the hot water has a slight sulphur smell to it; you are in Iceland and this applies to all Icelandic hot water, get over it! Definitely choose this apartment as your home base for your Icelandic adventure, I guarantee you won't regret it! Thank you, Sara!
Great place to start our trip in Iceland. Sara was very accommodating with meeting us and showing us the apartment. Great location and very comfortable - had everything we needed for the 3 nights we stayed there.
Sara met up with me the day I moved into the flat and gave me a run-down on everything I needed to know while staying at the flat... I actually had no questions for her before she left me to settle into that gloriously cute apartment. :)
It was beautifully set up and had everything I needed to make my last week in Iceland comfortable, and memorable. It's a short walk to the old Harbour area (my fave), the main hopping street and the city pond. Very convenient location and quiet neighbourhood. :) If you're taking the airport shuttle (Grayline), there's a pickup point right around the corner as well, very convenient. :)
When I'm up again, will definitely try stay here again... :)
사라의 아파트는 모던하게 잘 꾸며져 있어요. 필요한 모든것이 갖추어져있고 또 깨끗해서 머무는 동안 무척 만족했어요.
Sara's studio was clean and cosy with a very comfortable bed and great coffee machine. The bathroom, although shared was also clean and always available. The studio was easily reachable by foot from the bus station and very close to the cente, in a quiet street. Communication with Sara went smooth. All in all, very recommendable.
Sara’s apartment was very bright and sunny with great views. The apartment is well equipped with a washer/dryer and within easy walking distance of the sights and restaurants of Reykjavik. It was a really no hassle way to be in Reykjavik and I’d be happy staying there again.
We stayed at Sara's appartment for 3 nights. Sara welcomed us in person (altough it seems as if she isn't living in the appartment). She was really nice and helpful and it's been a pleasure to communicate with her via email.
The furniture and appartment equipment (washing maschine, fully equiped kitchen, hair dryer...) is exactly like shown in the pictures and leaves nothing to be desired. However, the appartment itself did not really meet our expectations. It's more a souterrain appartment and the windows offer an eye level view of a rather shabby backyard. In our opinion, the bathroom would need a makeover and cleaning (the toilet seat did not fit and you could barely close the door as the doorhandle was broken) - mould, lime and sulphur-hotwater made showering not a perfect start of our day. During the day it was quite noisy due to construction work and some neighbour's homework.
If you want to stay in a well equiped appartment in walking distance to Reykjavik's main shopping street and if you are not bothered by the mentioned drawbacks Sara's appartment is good lodging option.
Sara is a great host, super easy to connect and book, directions to apartment spot on! The apartment was cute, comfortable and very convenient, I walked most place while in town. Bottom line it's a great place to stay while in Iceland.
