Welcoming hosts with a great apartment in a beautiful area! The room was spacious and comfortable with everything needed. It's quiet but not far from the busy streets, restaurants and nightlife. Süreyya and her sister were very welcoming, provided loads of advice and invitations to hang out. I can't wait to come back!
Dear Matthew, thank you very much :) Hope you really liked your stay with us;) Hugs
The girls (Süreya and her sister) were really good hosts. They were always up and ready for helping in anything needed.
Dear Silke, thank you very much:) Hope to see you again some day. Hugs

Elçin & Süreyya are the best hosts you can imagine if you want to get a real insight into Istanbul's day to day life. The flat is in a beautiful historic building and is perfectly located. I felt very much at home straight away and would always come back.
This place was perfect for me! I loved the typical Istanbul entryway and the funky wooden door as my first impression, then the warm welcome by Süreyya and her rambunctious little cat, Gezi as I entered. The apartment is lovely, with high ceilings, big windows, old wooden floors, and a lot of Ikea flourishes throughout. The location was central and very cool, with lots of interesting shops and hip cafes in the vicinity, and only minutes' walk to both the Istiklal and the many attractions of Karakoy.
But the best part was the hospitality shown to me by Süreyya and her sister Elçin. They were so helpful and welcoming prior to and during my stay (which I should add was a rather last-minute booking, to boot). They both made good recommendations on places to eat and things to do, and I enjoyed speaking with them about life in Istanbul. Elçin even shared her dinner with me one night, and made me Turkish coffee and a snack on the morning of my departure. And then her boyfriend insisted on carrying my (quite heavy) suitcase down the stairs for me when I left - above and beyond! If you're looking for a clean and welcoming place to stay in Istanbul, I definitely recommend this one.
Two quick caveats: 1) if you are highly sensitive to cigarette smoke, this might not be the best choice for you (though I imagine it would be quite difficult to find a completely smoke-free environment anywhere in Turkey!). The apartment DID NOT smell strongly of cigarettes and the faint smell did not bother me in the least, but if you are very sensitive to it, that would be something to consider.
2) I took a Havatas bus from the airport to Taksim Square for 11TL and decided to take a taxi from there to the apartment because I had a heavy suitcase with me. I was grossly overcharged for this ride - 45TL for a five-minute ride that should have only cost around 10TL. Süreyya had told me in a detailed email prior to my arrival that I should only pay around 10TL for the ride, but when I started asking different cab drivers how much for the ride they ALL said 35TL - clearly collusion on their part. And then the crooked cabdriver I ended up with jacked the meter to 45. I had only been in the country for a couple of hours at that point, was tired and hungry, and did not feel up to the task of fighting him on it, so I gave in. But if you find yourself at the Taksim Havatas stand and want to take a taxi to Süreyya and Elçin's place, negotiate with the secure knowledge that you should not be paying more than 10TL for the ride!
Thanks for everything, Süreyya and Elçin! I hope we meet again!
I had a fantastic experience staying with Sureyya. She was a great host, and helpful from the moment I booked the room. The apartment is located on a very cute street, in a great neighborhood. Lots of fun things to do, and it is a great home base for adventures. While Sureyya is happy to give you as much privacy as you would like, I wound up hanging out with her and her friends, which was a lot of fun! The question is not if I'll come back, but when -- and I'll definitely stay with Sureyya again!
Dear Teal :) Thank you for your precious comments :) You are always welcome here in this city and you have friends now :) We are eagerly waiting for your longest trip to İstanbul. Keep in touch;)
Süreyya's flat is located close or almost in the nice Cihangir quarter with nice shops and good places to eat. The closest Tram Station is about 5-8 Minute Wallung distance. It is very spacoius and I loved the atmosphere of the old building and big living room. Süreyya was not in Istanbul that time but I had a nice welcoming by her sister and good contact with her all the time. So that there was no lacking at all. Definitely a good place to stay in Istanbul even at cold times.
Hey Uli, thank you for your precious comments :) Hope to meet you next time :) . Keep in touch;)
Sureyya was away but she helped a lot before I arrived and her sister was very welcoming in Istanbul. The flat is great - clean, quiet, warm (it snowed while i was there!) and easy to find (right by a landmark - the Galatasaray school). I would definitely stay here again if I returned to the city.
Dear Taimour, thank you for your precious comments :) It was nice to share our flat with you. Hope to see you again. Keep in touch;)
We were in Istanbul for New Year. It was a great time! Süreyya and her friend Sinem very kind and helpful people, answered all of our questions about the city! The apartment is beautiful, overlooking the Bosphorus! It is a pleasure! Is very comfortable, not far from Taksim Square, as well as from the pier Kabatazh, offering easy access to the Asian part of the city, the Princes' Islands and the old city.
We are delighted with the city, the apartment and her mistress! Be sure to come back again and recommend this accommodation to all!
I can recommend this place & host. Süreyya was communicative + welcoming right from the beginning and throughout our whole stay of four days, which we liked a lot :) The room / house was always clean and close to lots of nice food and coffee shops! We also enjoyed a nice fish restaurant pointed out by Süreyya's nice sister! ;) all in all it was an amazing experience in Istanbul and we hope to visit sometime again!
Sureya is one of my old friends, we have enjoyed at her beautiful home many times. I really like the ottoman roof and Pera style of that amazing house. If you need a close location to Taksim, I strictly advise you this warm host:)
I met Süreyya in Barcelona at the house of a common friend. We enjoyed a really good night in a terrace, with a beer in our hands and talking about random topics. Maybe we will again in the future in Turkey, who knows! :)
Sureyya is one of my beloved friend. She is a outgoing, openminded, lovely, beautiful and kind person :) accually this is my first reference for a person and she deserves all kind of great words.. You can allways trust her..
Süreyya is a perfect person and she is a great landlord. She has a traditional old house if you like old house with high ceiling you'll be gratefull. On the other hand Süreyya's home is the best location in istanbul, you can go taksim just 5 minutes by walk.
Süreyya and all her friends are the mega top people in İstanbul.
They know all the cool & young & hot stuff all around in :) İstanbul.
She and her apartment has great taste and the building is located at a hip neighborhood too.
She is a warm friendly cheerful fashionista persona w a friendly sense of humour too.
İstanbul and her place is gonna create the greatest colorful memories of your lifetime.
I have been in the apartment and it rocked.......Heartfelt recommendation, i hope you choose her place!
I am highly recomend the apartment of Süreyya as a beautiful designed and well located building, in a beautiful street and area to walk full of great restaurants and designed fashion stores. Süreyya is a very nice, warm and friendly person and you will not regret!
Süreyya is one of the most caring and beautiful souls I have run into during my travels. To this day, we're separated by several bodies of water but we keep in touch. She's sweet, gentle, respectful and prioritizes well on communicating and efficiency. Miss you babe :)
Süreyya is an amazing and decent person. Her apartment is in an amazing location. 5 minutes walk to tram (to old city), 7 minutes walk to the M2 subway line. 30 seconds walk to the heart of the city, Taksim Square and Istiklal Street... You can even walk to the old city (Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar etc.) from the apartment. Unlike common Turkish apartments, this house is amazing with its high ceilings and old wood floors. The room was for 2 but now it has 1 double and 1 single bed so it is suitable for 3 people. I highly recommend this historical dream house. You won't regret it...
Sureyya is a great host and her apart is close to main places of Istanbul. The apart is located in the heart of Taksim and you can easily go everywhere from here. Also, the room is very comfortable for 2 people. I highly recommend her places. :)
she is a perfectly decent and nice person who is also very friendly and joyful. a good friend of mine :)
