Abdulkadir and his wife Sultan were wonderful hosts. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They cooked us breakfast every morning and offered us lunch or dinner if we were around the house. They also served us tea and cakes.
We did not speak Turkish and they do not speak English but we were able to communicate regardless. It was like playing charades.
Sultan did my laundry without me even asking.
The day we left we had an early flight. Abdulkadir woke up at 5am to make us breakfast and he drove us to the airport.
We had our own private entrance upstairs and the entire upstairs was ours. The rooms were as pictured and there were plenty of towels.
This was a very good place. However, it is near the airport and the planes fly very close overhead and they are very loud. And they land every few minutes during the day. It's not so bad at night.
Also, Lara Beach is the only site within walking distance and it is a 25 minute walk. The old town is far away, about a 45 minute drive as are the other beach resorts.
Also, there is no wifi.
Also, the taxi drivers have a difficult time finding this place as the only landmark nearby is a Harley Davidson store that they are not familiar with. However, Abdulkadir helped us by showing us the bus routes which were very convenient.
I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for something different than the typical tourist experience.
As a family of four (mother and three siblings - 16, 14 and 26) we found this accommodation ideal for our needs. The adorable couple made us feel at home and we cherished the plentiful opportunities to experience a traditional Turkish lifestyle in this warm home.
The beach is a half hour walk away (scenic through the forest and guided by the host) and we had missed the last bus but Abdulkadir picked us up for free. That night he took us to see Duden Waterfall. He also took us to Perge at a very low cost compared to taxi drivers' quotations. Despite the language barrier, we discussed religion and politics.
The breakfasts were particularly delicious and we were able to use their washing machine, cooker and fridge at any time.
I would describe this as something between an independently-rented apartment and a homestay but we loved every moment (despite the slightly suburban location) and would certainly return on any visit to Antalya.
It is particularly suitable to a well-mannered, down-to-earth family/couple who are seeking to sample the finest of traditional Turkish culture. We are also Muslim and felt comfortable in the alcohol-free surroundings. Thank you Abdulkadir and Sultan.
Abdulkadir Şahin --- 6 star****** accommodation in Antalya!
The best host & the best choice in Turkey (Highly recommend.)
We spent our very good time in Antalya. When we arrived to Antalya. Abdulkadir papa drove us to the house & his wife Sultan mama already prepared dinner for us which is traditional & yummy. They are stay in 1st floor & we stay at 2nd floor with 4 beds, washroom, living room & Independent gate.
During our stay, they show us amazing traditional turkish: drinking cay & taste homemade cake in the garden, to share the homemade honey, olives, fruit jam with us, drive us to somewhere nice & Iconic (Lara beach, Perge, Waterfall, Supermarket) & teach us turkish cooking; which is totally different to Hong Kong.
We Love Antalya & Turkey because we met Kadir papa & Sultan mama. They gave us very deep impression that Turkish peoples are very very nice & helpful. Although we don't speak turkish (even my mother don't know English) but there is NO problem for communication. We still can communicate well & get very clear informations from them.
They are gorgeous couple who already last their marriage for over 40 years!! Best wishes!!
Sultan mama & Kadir papa, the best host & the best choice in Turkey (Highly recommend.) Hope to see you again.
Teşekkür çok & en içten dileklerimle !!
We had a wonderful time staying with Abdulkabir and his wife, Sultan. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and made us feel right at home. As other reviewers mention, the space you rent is the upstairs portion of their house--kitchen is downstairs where they live. We shared delicious meals with them and had great conversation (helps a lot that we speak some Turkish!). The location is outside the main downtown part but it's a quick drive away and very convenient to the airport (note, it is in the flight takeoff path so you'll hear the planes--didn't bother us though). We stayed with out two young children, so the set up of 2 rooms with 2 single beds each worked well for us. They even let our two yr old borrow some of their grand kid's toys. Again, wonderful stay and hospitality, would highly recommend!!
We have stayed 4 days with Abdulkadir and Sultana. We had really nice time with them. They were so helpful and hospitable. Abdulkadir have picked us from airport and then, when my mother came picked her up too, even though she arrived 2 hours later. We really enjoyed delicious Turkish food, which Sultana cooked us. It was much better then we have tasted in local cafes. We stayed with our little daughter and hosts helped us a lot. They experienced parents and grandparents themselves.
Location is good: close to airport and it is less busy, then other areas. It is easy to get to Antalya Old town and Marina, Laura beach is about 20-25 minutes walking and neighbourhood looks more like country side.
We could communicate well, though we cannot speak one language. So having (website hidden) translate on the phone would be helpful. Hosts have PC with 3G internet, but that is not Wi-Fi. If you would need Wi-Fi you can find it in cafe on the way to the Lara beach, close to ATMs.
We would definitely recommend staying with Abdulkadir and his wife Sultana. They are really nice people! :)
Our family only stayed 1 night as we arrived late into Antalya before heading off to Kas. Mr Sahin and his wife are the friendliest, most hospitable people I had encountered in a long time. Despite the obvious language barrier Abdulkadir and his wife made us feel like teenagers coming home to see their parents for the weekend. We were picked up from the airport as we landed with dinner waiting for us and he contacted the rental company to get our car delivered to his door. We used his local knowledge to come up with a plan for the day and drove us part of the way to make sure we headed the right direction.
It was a shame that we could not converse in Turkish as this would certainly have made this stay even better.
The stay was the highlight of our Turkey trip - we went to Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya. Having heard so much about how commercialized Antalya could be, we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a truly turkish home with hosts that took such great care of us. Güzel! Papa Kadir picked us up from the airport without any charge nor complaint, gave us clear directions to and fro wherever we were headed to, was always more anxious than us about reaching our destinations on time, and made us feel so loved. Mama Sultan was a great cook - she prepared our meals and they were delicious. It was a truly turkish and heart warming experience.
The place was spacious, clean (considering their bubbly and parental nature, and that they live just downstairs, the house was naturally well kept), have windows come with netting to fence off bugs, situated in a quiet neighborhood with occasional noise of planes flying by but can be easily removed by closing the window shut. We had the best hosts and best rest here, cok tesekkurler!!
Abdulkadir and his wife were very good hosts. They helped us get to their home on our first day (he picked up three of us from the otogar and airport, and gave instructions to the fourth on how to get to the house via public transportation). The home was nice and comfortable--the two bedrooms easily slept the four of us, and there was plenty of space to relax. We shared many meals with Abdulkadir and Sultan (excellent food at that) and would often have cay and cake with them if we came back in the afternoon. It was about a 25-30 minute walk to the beach at Lara. The main road directly outside the apartment had plenty of buses that made transportation to other areas easy.
Two points that future guests should be aware of: neither Abdulkadir nor Sultan speak any English (Abdulkadir knows a few words, but our knowing Turkish to one degree or another helped dramatically). Two, it is not exactly clear on the ad, but you will be sharing the home with the Sahin's--their bedroom and the kitchen is on the first floor, and the two bedrooms that you stay in are on the second floor.
Overall, I highly suggest staying with Abdulkadir and Sultan--they are sweet people and wonderful hosts.
We had a very good stay at Abdulkadirs house. He and his wife were a very helpful and polite host. Although we had a language barrier, we were on very good terms with Abdulkadir and his wife. We highly recommend them as a host and we say thank you for a pleasant stay.
