I am an Australia living between London and France. I travel a lot for work and prefer to stay in private houses and apartments, as opposed to hotels.

I stayed for nearly one month in this gorgeous apartment in Crouch End to improve my English. From the first email contact to the last Mel replied always very warm-hearted and quick so that I never felt lost and insecure. No matter whether I was searching for a English language school near the apartment, for a cheap mini cab, for the best bus connection or for help with the oven,... Mel was always lovely and considerate. Thanks so much for the great time I had in your cosy home! I highly recommend this wonderful place! Hopefully I can continue my journey into the English language while staying at Mel´s place.
Thanks Gabi! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! It was lovely hosting you and I hope next time we will get to meet in person. Best, Mel
Had a great week at Mels in Crouch End. She was so helpful and considerate to our needs. The bed was comfy had a great shower/bath and the kitchen was a fantastic place to observe Crouch End life. The whole space is tastfully decorated and felt like home away from home. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a stay in London
Thanks John! So sorry we didn't get to meet in person, but hopefully we'll see you back in London, or on the Sunny coast at some point!
I stayed at this amazing apartment on my last visit to London. I had a great time there. The place has everything you could possibly wish for and it really felt like a home away from home. It's a big, bright and updated apartment with an extremely comfortable bed. I never met Mel but she certainly did her best to help me when any unforeseen situations happened. I highly recommend this place!
Thanks Lina! So glad you enjoyed your stay.

The hosts were very quick to respond and very helpful with any queries when we had issues with the internet connection. The flat is lovely and so is the area. Its much bigger than most 1 bed apartments in London than I have seen!
Thanks Claudia, I'm glad the artists enjoyed their stay!
Mel and Chris are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The flat is very well located and suited our needs perfectly. I would definitely recommend staying with them.
My husband and I stayed in this lovely apartment for 17 days in May. Although Mel was not able to be there, her housekeeper met us and oriented us to the flat. Mel checked in by e-mail frequently to make sure everything was okay and she was very responsive and easy to deal with during the booking process as well.
The flat has a great deal of charm, space, and comfort. There is lots of light and splendid views on the neighborhood in three directions, which made for fascinating people-watching night and day. Being in the heart of things meant there was a little street noise, but not a bothersome amount to us.
We both had some academic work to get done, and the work space was wonderful (my husband loved the living room desk and I worked on the big table in the large and well-equipped kitchen). The internet connection was strong, which was an important consideration for us. There was adequate hot water - good shower and bathtub - and the apartment temperature was comfortable on cool days, with the possibility of opening windows for a cross breeze on warmer days (never got very warm during our stay, though).
Crouch End is a lively and safe neighborhood, with lots of street energy, excellent grocery shopping (four supermarkets and smaller greengrocers), and more coffee shops per block than Seattle (i.e. a lot). There are also several good restaurants, a nice Art Nouveau pub right across the street, and an art movie house. A few buses, although no underground stop, serve the area. Takes about an hour to get downtown (British Museum, Trafalgar Square), but you can always get a seat on the top of the double-decker bus, as Crouch End is the first stop; or take a bus to the underground station and go from there.
We would definitely recommend this as a very nice place to stay in London!
Mel was very prompt in responding to all inquiries.
Segur was one of the most amazing places we´ve been! and Mel an excelent host! even she was away she was very easily contacted if required. The house was lovely and cozy, Mel left plenty of tourist information around so sightseeing was very easy (we don´t speak french!). The little garden was perfect for candle-light dinners, which our 4 year old really enjoyed! The area is wonderful, very peaceful but with plenty to do. Swimming lakes in close distance, country walks, horse riding everywhere and beautiful medieval villages close by. We had a wonderful time! looking forwards to going back in the near future!
Mel's house is such a beautiful spot in France!! The house is in one of the most beautiful french villages, and you will feel so well attended... Just like home.
She left lots of details in the house for us, as well as information about the region, the village...
Everything perfect. We enjoyed living in an ancient house for some days!! Mostly my 4 year old kid running up and down the house!!!
Ver nice and easy going, communication was great.
Mel was a very sympathic host. Alice
Simply put, the most amazing little medieval village! When you drive down the hill into Segur, it is almost unbelievable. It is like you are driving onto a movie set, and the best thing about it is that fact that it is all real. Real people living, working and playing in this adorable little town.
Staying at Mel and Chris's has always been fabulous. The house is right in the town, so an easily to walk from the cafe and pub. The house is adorable and very cosy and close enough to the river to hear the sounds of the small waterfall. It's the ideal place to relax and also close enough to other great towns and areas to explore. I can't wait to go back!
